Important Information for Parents/Guardians

Dear Senior Parent/Guardian,

As you know, the senior prom will be held on Friday, April 27 on the Spirit of Chicago luxury yacht located on Navy Pier. Senior students will be off of school on April 27.  All students and their guests who are attending prom are required to take the school-provided coach bus transportation to and from Navy Pier. Students and their guests must arrive to McAuley NO LATER THAN 5:30. Students will be able to enter only through the Circle Drive Doors and will report to their assigned classroom for check-in. The doors will open at 5:15 for entry.

Because the prom is a school-sponsored event, all policies for conduct and behavior apply. All students attending the dance may be subject to a random breathalyzer test at any point throughout the night. Any student found violating school policy will be subject to severe disciplinary consequences. Once the check-in/breathalyzer process is completed, students will begin boarding their assigned coach bus. As a reminder, no bags will be permitted on the bus or at the dance. Students will not be permitted to go to their lockers or leave any personal belongings at McAuley during the check-in process.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ANY STUDENT WHO ARRIVES LATE AND MISSES THE BUS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND PROM. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN ONCE TICKETS HAVE BEEN PURCHASED.Students will board buses around 12:30 a.m. and head back to Mother McAuley. Students will be responsible for making arrangements for transportation once they have returned back to school at 1:00 a.m. It is crucial that these arrangements are made ahead of time, as no one will be allowed back in the building upon return to McAuley.

All dance participants must abide by McAuley policies for dress and attire.Dresses that reveal around the stomach, naval, lower back, and sides are not appropriate and may not be worn to prom. Male guests must be under the age of 21 and must wear appropriate attire.

No early dismissals from school on Thursday, April 26 will be granted and all students must be present in school on Monday, April 30. A signed doctor's note will be required for any student who is absent on Monday, April 30. Seniors may dress down on Monday, April 30.

The senior exam schedule follows:

Monday, May 14 - Exams 7, 8, & 9

***Students will have a normal 2:50 dismissal after their 9th period exam.

Tuesday, May 15 - Exams 4, 5, & 6

***Students will be dismissed after their 6th period exam.

Wednesday, May 16 - Exams 1, 2, & 3

***Academy Awards will follow the third period exam. Seniors will be dismissed at the conclusion of Academy Awards.

No student may be absent for any reason during her finals. If your daughter becomes ill and is absent, she will need a signed doctor's note in order to make up her exam. No exceptions. Students who are exempt from exams must go to the lounge or media center - they may not leave the building. Once all exams are completed on Monday and Tuesday, she may go home. Seniors will be dismissed after the Academy Awards on Wednesday.

 

Prom

The Senior Prom will be held on Friday, April, 27, 2018 from 7:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. on the Spirit of Chicago luxury yacht. The Spirit of Chicago is docked at Chicago’s Navy Pier which is located on 600 E. Grand Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Tickets will be sold during the lunch periods from Tuesday, April 10 - Thursday, April 12. The cost is $220.00/couple and $110.00/single; checks should be made payable to Mother McAuley High School.

In order to purchase a ticket, each student must be in good standing with all tuition/fees paid and all detentions/jugs served. Please contact Mrs. Mary Kay O’Connell in the Finance Office at (773)881-6506 or at moconnell@mothermcauley.org with any questions regarding tuition.

No refunds will be given once tickets have been purchased.

Prom Queen Nominations

If you are interested in nominating yourself for Prom Queen, please follow these guidelines: 

Beginning March 12, you can come to “Prom Headquarters” located in Room 106 and fill out a Prom Queen Nomination form. The cut-off time for nominating yourself is Wednesday, March 14 after school. You may only nominate YOURSELF. You may NOT nominate your friends.

On Friday, March 16, we will pull 5 random names and announce them over the P.A. during announcements. Voting for Prom Queen will take place the week before Easter Break.
