Tonight is opening night for the Theatre Seminar 2 production of the mystery/comedy, The Night I Died
at the Palace Theatre. Please come and support our students. The show begins at 7:00 p.m. and should
be over at 8:40. Tickets are $5 at the door. It will be a fun night at the theatre.
Anyone interested in joining Road Runners – please attend an informational meeting either today after
school in the Community Room or Friday before school at 7:30 a.m. in the Community Room. The
meeting will be brief! Hope to see you there!
Tomorrow the church celebrates the Feast of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr. Many of you may remember
this feast day because of the blessing of throats. After the morning communion service tomorrow,
faculty, staff and students will have an opportunity to have their throats blessed by Deacon Cislo. See
you all tomorrow morning.
There will be a Thespian meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 in the Little Theatre to discuss plans for the
grade school workshop. Hope to see you there!
If you are interested in singing in Choir or playing an instrument next year, auditions will be on Tuesday,
Feb. 7th after school. For Chorus auditions please report to the Choral Room. For Orchestra, Chamber
Winds, Intermediate Winds, Beginning Strings or Intermediate Strings please report to the Music Room.
Anyone interested in joining Road Runners please attend an informational meeting tomorrow morning
at 7:40 a.m. in the Community Room.
Anyone looking for service hours can sign up to participate in the alumnae phonathon next Tuesday,
February 7th and Wednesday, February 8th from 5-8 p.m. in the Choral Room. The sign-up sheet is
located outside Mrs. Lagreid’s office. Only 10 students can participate each night so sign up today.
Good luck to JV Basketball tonight. They play Trinity in the GCAC Championship at Trinity at 7:00 p.m.
Congratulations to Varsity Basketball on an awesome job last night. Their next game is on Saturday for
3rd place at Trinity at 4:00 p.m.
Students of all levels are invited to apply for The St. Therese, the Little Flower Scholarship. Four $2,500
tuition scholarships are available. Applications are available on Edline or in Mrs. Klyczek’s office.
Application deadline is Thursday, February 16th.
Attention all Senior Homeroom Reps: Don’t forget to hand in your prom song and colors suggestion
sheets today. Forms are due to Ms. Hughes in Room 106 after homeroom today. No late sheets will be
accepted.

February celebrates Black History Month. The following is an important fact to remember about Black
History. On February 1st, 1960, a sit-in movement was launched when four black college students
insisted on getting service at a “whites only” lunch counter. The students did the same thing every day
for 5 months until they were finally served a meal at that place.
As part of Catholic Schools Week, Mother McAuley is helping the St. Vincent DePaul Society mark their
155th anniversary of helping people. On Thursday and Friday of this week, we are asking all faculty/staff
and students to bring in a perishable food item to help restock the food pantries of our local churches.
Peanut butter, cereals, soups, pastas and grains are what is needed most. Turn them in to your HR Rep.
If you have any questions, see Ms. Frederick.
The Monday/Wednesday ACT Advantage Class (Session B) will begin today at 3:30. Room assignments
are posted near the Main Office.
Little School Applications are due today at 3:30 p.m. Please turn them in directly to Little School. Late
applications will not be accepted.

On 1/28/12 Mother McAuley’s Math Team, the Match Macs, competed in the third Catholic League
South Math Contest held at Nazareth Academy. Special congratulations to the Algebra I Team which
finished second in the written contest and the Junior/Senior relay teams which finished third. The high
scores in the written exam were Meghan Baker in Algebra I, Maggie Daniels in Geometry, Clare Kennedy
in Algebra 2 and Veronica Garcia and Tierney Brosnahan in Pre Calculus. Thank you to everyone who
participated.
On Thursday, March 22, 2012, Mother McAuley will be hosting an after school hair-cutting event to
benefit, Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a charity that makes real hair wigs for women, fighting cancer. Hair
must be at least 8 inches long, and cannot be chemically treated, in order to be donated. Anyone who
wants to donate their hair is welcome, so please tell your friends and family to come on out and make
the kindest cut of all.
On this Monday, February 6th, a representative from the League of Women Voters will be present during
all lunch periods to register eligible students to vote!! If you will be 18 years old by March 20, that
means you! Please bring your McAuley ID and another ID that has your address on it to register. Ask
your history teacher or Ms. O”Keefe if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!
There is a full NHS meeting tomorrow morning.
Congratulations to JV basketball on their win over Loyola last night. They will play in the GCAC
Championship on Thursday at Trinity.

Attention sophomores: Dance tickets will be sold during all lunch periods tomorrow through Thursday.
The cost is $25 per couple and $12.50 for a single ticket. Remember, you need to have your student ID
and dance permission form when purchasing a ticket. See Mrs. Murzyn with any questions.
Good luck to varsity basketball in the GCAC tournament tonight. They play Resurrection at Loyola at
7:00.
Congratulations to our bowling teams! They took 5th and 6th place in the tournament over the weekend.
Congratulations to JV and freshman basketball. JV beat DeLaSalle and will play on Wednesday in the
GCAC semifinals. Freshman basketball won the GCAC Championship. Great job girls!
