Financial Assistance Organizations
These organizations offer financial assistance scholarship programs:
The mission of the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund is to give high school scholarship assistance and educational support to Chicago students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. DMSF seeks to make a life-altering difference in the lives of its Scholars by providing them with the best opportunity to succeed in high school and college.
DMSF works to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder a young person’s ability to obtain a quality education. DMSF seeks to create three-way partnerships between college preparatory high schools, the families of bright but economically disadvantaged young people from Chicago, and DMSF. Through these partnerships, young people who traditionally have very little choice in matters of education receive the opportunity to attend a high performing high school, participate in extracurricular activities, benefit from honors and accelerated high school classes, and take advantage of DMSF’s educational support services and programs.
By giving these Scholars the opportunity to attend college preparatory high schools, DMSF is making a difference in the lives of deserving young men and women, their families and their communities.
Since 1966, LINK unlimited Scholars has been Chicago’s highest-performing and most experienced African American high school mentoring and scholarship program, bringing together the comprehensive resources required to shape motivated African American youth from underserved neighborhoods into academic achievers and life-long community leaders. The organization’s approach rests on a rigorous support system built to hone the academic and interpersonal skills necessary for admission to top-tier universities, and ultimately, college graduation and a lifetime of success. LINK integrates mentoring relationships to foster academic success, personal development, and interracial understanding and harmony. Our strategic goal is to support students who show great promise for developing personal leadership, achievement, and ultimately, success – both in and out of the classroom. This philosophy is reflected in our programming, our staff, and the families we serve. Our goal atLINK Unlimited is to provide every opportunity that will afford the scholars we serve a concrete blueprint by which they can confidently and successfully change the trajectory of their lives.
