We are so excited to share McAuley with you today! Stay tuned to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for all the excitement as we celebrate Mercy Day and our foundress, Catherine McAuley.
Hope you enjoy the fun during our fourth annual Mercy Day of Giving! Let’s get the party started . . . and don’t forget to donate along the way! Many gifts make one big impact!
Since 1846, when the first Sisters of Mercy arrived in Chicago and opened Saint Xavier Academy for Females, Mother McAuley has been a pioneer in the Catholic education of young women from across the Chicago area. In 1956, the Sisters, to fill the need for quality Catholic education for young women from across the Chicago Southland, established Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School. Today, more than 60 years later, McAuley continues that mission of offering a Catholic education to young women.
Times have changed and the McAuley community has evolved, but the need is even greater for an educational institution that offers a safe environment where young women can enjoy high academic offerings along with athletics, clubs/social activities and community service opportunities that help develop self-confidence, compassion, and leadership skills.
As a Catholic institution, we continue to educate our students in the fullness of the Catholic tradition. McAuley continues to provide opportunities for our students to experience daily living in a faith community, and develop commitment and skill in serving others. We are dedicated to our mission of preparing them with the skills, integrity and confidence they will need to address the many challenges that await them beyond the classroom, and the demands of a constantly changing global society. This is the McAuley lifetime advantage.
Most recently we launched, Future Ready: The Campaign for Mother McAuley. Through the generosity of our donors, this summer we realized a major renovation of our existing facilities as part of Phase One of the campaign. We redesigned our main entrance with additional safety features, including a new mass notification system. Our administrative offices have been reconfigured. We updated our student lounge/commons so we may provide our students with the proper tools to excel in the learning process, think freely across disciplines, engage with difficult real-world questions and collaborate in designing solutions. Our learners of today are preparing to become leaders in the jobs of tomorrow.
I welcome you to visit our campus to view our many renovations. You will feel the excitement and energy that fills each room and hallway. You will leave awed and inspired by the commitment of our McAuley family to the academic and spiritual achievement of each and every young woman. As an alumna and now president, I truly believe in our educational mission. I know that the fine traditions of McAuley will continue to impact and benefit the lives of many young women for generations to come.
