Mother McAuley President, Mary Acker Klingenberger ’75, was recognized May 4 with a Board Service Award recognizing her dedication to the Board of Directors of King-Bruwaert House, a full service retirement community in Burr Ridge. The award was presented to her at the ninth annual Legacy & Leaders dinner hosted at K-B House.
Klingenberger has been active with the Governance, Admissions and Community Development Committees while serving on the Board since 2012. She has taken an active role in board decisions that have guided K-B through several major construction projects and a new affiliation with Mather LifeWays of Chicago.
“We are pleased that Mary has played a pivotal role in serving on our Board for five years,” said John Kayser, president of the King-Bruwaert Board of Directors. “Throughout Mary’s distinguished career, she has dedicated her time and talents to organizations that have greatly benefited from her knowledge and expertise. We will miss her on our Board but extend best wishes for her continued success.”
A graduate of St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN, Klingenberger majored in humanistic studies and economics as an undergrad. She was recognized with an Alumna Achievement Award in 2014 for her personal and professional accomplishments and leadership. She also earned a master’s degree in business administration from DePaul University and spent 27 years in the banking industry that culminated in a position as regional president of Harris Bank of Hinsdale. She was appointed the first director of gift planning at the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation, where she was responsible for spearheading the Foundation’s gift planning efforts.
