Tax Credit Scholarships

The Illinois House and Senate recently passed school funding legislation with a provision providing for Tax Credit Scholarships (TCS), which is intended to provide qualifying low-income students with tuition to non-public schools, payable up to $12,800.
Starting January 2, 2018, donors, who have an active account with the Department of Illinois Tax Revenue, may apply for a tax credit authorization certificate, and make a donation within 60 days to a qualifying Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). Individuals may designate a particular school or sub-set of schools that they wish to donate to, but corporations may not designate a school/sub-set.
Prospective students may apply for a TCS for the 2018-19 school year, beginning January 24, 2018. For more information on the application process, please visit www.empowerillinois.org.
The full list of qualifying SGOs is not know at this time. However, the Chicago Archdiocese has chosen the established Empower Illinois as its preferred SGO. Mother McAuley strongly encourages both  interested donors and prospective families to visit www.empowerillinois.org for the latest information on this program.
Please note that the TCS process and admissions process to Mother McAuley are separate and distinct so please follow the regular admissions protocol in addition to applying for a TCS. Contact Sara Phillips McGann, Director of Recruitment & Admissions, at smcgann@mothermcauley.org or at (773) 881-6534, for more information on Mother McAuley's admissions process.
