On Monday, February 27, 2006, Mother McAuley High School’s UNITY group sponsored an African American Heritage Celebration after school in the cafeteria. Activities included singing the Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice,” poetry readings, songs, a praise dance and a power point slide show featuring the history of fashion in the black community. The event ended with a delicious feast of fried chicken, jerk chicken, macaroni, rolls and more. The organizations of the event, Delana Colvin (Chgo., Woodlawn), Deyshauna Hamilton (Justice), Roneesha Johnson (Chgo., Roseland), Erica McKinney (Chgo., Auburn Gresham), Megan Milton (Chgo., Roseland), and Maricarr Stubbs (Chgo., Riverdale) were pleased to have shared this celebration with so many members of the McAuley Community
