In an ongoing series of Informational Parent Night sessions, Mother McAuley’s School Counseling Department, in conjunction with The Geek Squad, presented, “The Truth about My Space.”
The presentation covered the possible risks associated with posting personal information on internet sites, and instructed the parents on how to navigate and protect their children. The parents were also given tips on how to monitor website usage and how to communicate with their child about this topic.
McAuley’s School Counseling Department strives to educate parents on topics affecting their children. When it was decided to cover the topic of internet safety, College Counselor Stephanie Szczepanski invited McAuley alumna Moira Hardek, a Double Agent Diva with the Geek Squad, to do the presentation. Moira was joined by Patrick Pena, also of Geek Squad.
“McAuley is excited to be working with the Geek Squad on presenting such an important subject, and we appreciate their insight and expertise,” said Szczepanski.
The Geek Squad was also be at McAuley for Computer Science Awareness Day on May 9 to encourage and promote the advantages of women in technology.
