McAuley Students Help at Harmony Hope and Healing

Student Service Director, Mary Claire Lynch and students from Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School have found a great way to spend their Thursday afternoons. The group lends a hand at Harmony Hope and Healing, a creative music program that offers dignity and spiritual healing to the homeless and underserved in the Chicago area.  The program is located at the Institute of Women in Chicago, a transitional shelter for women and children and a drop-in center for seniors.

Margaret O’Connell Nykaza, a graduate of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, is the founder and Executive Director of Harmony, Hope and Healing.  The program provides enrichment opportunities for over 700 adults, children and seniors annually.

McAuley students help at the Institute of Women as part of the service requirement but keep coming back because of the joy they experience working with the choir.
