Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School is pleased to announce that Laura Roache Jakubczak has accepted the position of Athletic Director.
A McAuley alumna from the class of 1978, Jakubczak brings 21 years of experience in teaching and coaching to the position. Her diverse coaching experience includes basketball, track, tennis, softball, and cross country. She served as Athletic Director at Seton Academy from 1990 to 2004 and was inducted into the GCAC Hall of Fame in 2003. While coaching basketball at Seton, Jakubczak led her team to five regional championships, and was named Coach of the Year by the Illinois Times in 1990 and by the Illinois

Basketball Coaches Association in 1998. As a track and tennis coach, Jakubczak’s teams regularly competed in state championships. In addition, Jakubczak has taught physical education at both the elementary and secondary levels at St. Turibius, St. Bede, Christ the King and Seton Academy. She and her family are members of Christ the King Parish and long-time Beverly residents.
Jakubczak will be filling the Athletic Director position that has been held by Nancy Pedersen since 1994. Pedersen will be retiring at the end of the 2005-2006 school year, but has agreed to serve as transitional consultant to Jakubczak, to manage the summer programs, and to assist with the Sophomore Junior Varsity Classic, the McAuley Preview, and the Nike Volleyball Challenge Tournament.
