Kristina Komorowski of Chicago - Garfield Ridge has been honored with a President’s Volunteer Service Award for her exemplary volunteer service.
Kristina earned this award for her volunteer work with the youth group at Emmanuel Bible Church in Berwyn. For the past four summers, Kristina has traveled with her church to South Dakota to assist the Lakota Sioux native people. The community they serve is incredibly poor with a multitude of problems such as joblessness, alcoholism and drug abuse. The teen group spends all year raising money for the trip and planning ways to help the people they will serve.

Academically, Kristina has maintained a high GPA, is on the honor roll, and has been awarded for perfect attendance.
Sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program recognizes young people across America who have volunteered a significant amount of their time to serve their communities and their country. Volunteer activities are judged on criteria such as personal initiative, creativity, effort, impact, and personal growth. More than 200,000 young people across America have been considered for these awards since the program began in 1995.
