The cast is ready and the orchestra is set for Mother McAuley's All-school show, "Thoroughly Modern Millie." The show is set in 1922 with costumes, dance, and musical styles of the period. Based on the movie which starred Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore, the award winning musical became a Broadway hit only a few years ago.

McAuley to present "Thoroughly Modern Millie"

"Thoroughly Modern Millie," is the story of Millie Dillmount, a fearless young woman from the Midwest who heads to New York during the roaring Twenties, determined to take the town by storm. She immediately reinvents herself as a flapper and moves into the Hotel Priscilla where she meets Miss Dorothy Brown, Jimmy Smith and Muzzy Van Hossmere. A story of love, friendship and villains, "Thoroughly Modern Millie," is an energetic music and dance performance that is sure to entertain.

The show will be performed on November 15, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m., and November 18 at 3 p.m. Tickets go on sale November 1st. Special performances will be held on November 14th during the day for grade school children and senior citizens. For more information call Pat Haynes at 773-881-6512.

The two casts are made up of McAuley theatre students and boys from many of the local high schools. The lead role of Millie Dillmount will be performed by McAuley seniors Megan Walsh of Alsip and Leslie Lank of Beverly. Millie's best friend Miss Dorothy Brown will be performed by Marita Miller and Amy Meyer of Oak Lawn; Jimmy Smith will be performed by Sean Brennan and Tim Jones; and Muzzy Van Hossmere will be played by Kaylee Murphy of Evergreen Park and Lauren Roe of West Pullman.

The production staff for the show gives generously of their time and works with students with a sense of professionalism and passion. Led by Patricia Haynes, the production staff includes seniors Laura Bansley of Beverly, Kelly Wright of Oak Lawn, Josie Blough of Beverly and Molly Gallagher of Mt. Greenwood as Assistant Directors.
