Bridget Duignan '95 - 149th President of the Illinois State Bar Association

On June 3, 2025, Bridget was the 7th woman to be elected President of the Illinois State Bar Association. She is a Cook County Circuit Court Judge, sitting in the First Municipal Division. Prior to that, she was a managing partner and trial attorney at the firm Latherow & Duignan. There, she handled complex litigation representing victims of medical malpractice, construction negligence, and sexual abuse. She previously authored a column in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, “Women, Law & Politics”, where she highlighted inequities in the workplace, and other issues affecting women and families. She also authored the initial draft which became the Workplace Transparency Act, signed into law by Governor Pritzker in 2019. She currently lives on the south side of Chicago with her husband, Jose Rivero, and their three children, Jose, Finian, and Ela.
