As part of our February Black History Month Celebration, the Black Student Union (BSU) collaborated with our Alumnae Office to create four short videos highlighting a different McAuley alumna each week during homeroom. You can view the videos by clicking the buttons below!

Joy Bivins '94

BSU Member Dina Murray announced this video featuring Joy Bivins, Chief Curator/Vice President at the International African American Museum in Charleston, South Carolina. Joy is an alumna of the Mother McAuley Class of 1994 and 2018 McAuley Hall honoree. During her video, which students watched in homeroom, Joy spoke of her accomplishments, what Black History Month means to her and shared advice with our Mighty Macs!

Melody Spann Cooper '82

This video features Melody A. Spann-Cooper who is a proud McAuley graduate from the class of 1982 and author of “The Girlfriend’s Guide to Closing the Deal.” BSU member Michelle-Marie Nimo ‘23 introduced today’s video during Mac Nation News!

Colin Evans '09

Proud Mighty Mac Class of 2009 alumna Colin Evans is the Weekend Daypart Executive Producer at ABC 7 Chicago Eyewitness News. Colin shared how McAuley encouraged her to explore her interests and passion, and how it prepared her for her career in journalism today.

De'Nye Hopkins '14

Class of 2014 Alumna De’Nye Hopkins, Cloud Pak and Data Platform DSD Representative for IBM, shared with our Macs her extensive career path, including her experience teaching English in China and how McAuley prepared her to be in the Tech Industry!
