In honor of Black History Month, we are excited to spotlight distinguished Black alumnae who are role models in our Mighty Mac community. Today, we are excited to spotlight Amber Mayo McDermott '96!

Amber McDermott is the CEO and Managing Principal of Tech Dovia™, a boutique cybersecurity consulting firm specializing in Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Privileged Access Management (PAM). She blends technology and business strategy to help companies protect digital identities and meet compliance goals.

With over 12 years of experience, Amber has led global security initiatives across industries like finance, healthcare, aviation, and hospitality. She holds certifications in Project Management (PMP) and Scrum (CSM), and is currently pursuing the CISSP, one of the top cybersecurity certifications in the world.

Originally from Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood and now based in Atlanta, GA, Amber is passionate about mentoring young women and expanding access to careers that combine leadership, innovation, and technology.

Amber's advice to current McAuley students: enjoy the journey, be adaptable, keep your eye on the prize, and don't quit!

McAuley receives national recognition as a Premier Community for Theatre Education

Mother McAuley has been named a Premier Community for Theatre Education, a national distinction presented by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) to schools that demonstrate exceptional achievement in providing meaningful, high quality theatre education and access for all students. McAuley is one of only 15 schools to receive this three-year recognition, and the only in the Chicagoland area.

Two members of McAuley production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" named finalists in Broadway in Chicago's 2026 Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards

Audrey Hart '26 was named a Backstage Finalist for Props Design & Management. Jonah Groff, who played the role of Joseph, was named a Finalist for Best Performer in an Actor Role.
