Journalism Students celebrated with Cart Ride

Today we held a cart ride in honor of our award winning journalism students.

In the second division of the Illinois Journalism Education Association, our Inscape team placed 3rd in best print publication.

The following students were also honored with individual awards:

  • Alternative Storytelling - Ciara Hosty '23 and Lisette Corral '23 - 3rd Place
  • Front Page - Nora Harvey '22 - 3rd place 
  • Best Headline - Evelyn Ivers '23 - 1st Place
  • Humorous Commentary - Elena Fernandez '22 and Jo Gomez '22 - 2nd place
  • Personality Profile - Lisette Corral '23 and Ella Martin '23 - 3rd place 
  • Photo Story - Lily O'Connor '23, Keira Jarrett '23 and Evelyn Ivers '23 - 3rd place
  • Review - Aine McIntyre '22 - 2nd place
  • Serious Commentary - Nora Harvey '22 - 2nd place
  • Serious Commentary - Nora Harvey '22 - Honorable Mention
  • Overall Design - Nov/Dec Issue - Inscape Staff - 3rd place 

Students also placed in the 2022 Scholastic Press Association of Chicago, Student Media Awards. Out of 9 Chicagoland schools, here are our McAuley winners:

MMc & BR Band/Orchestra Nashville Trip

Mother McAuley & Brother Rice Band and Orchestra students traveled to Nashville over Spring Break for an incredible trip full of music.

Our Mighty Macs visited the Grand Ole Opry, recorded at RCA Studio B (the same studio used by Elvis, Dolly Parton, Chet Atkins, and so much more), performed at the National Museum of African American Music, saw Elvis Presley's Piano, and even spotted a celebrity along the way!

Daniel P. Haerther Scholars

Our Daniel P. Haerther Scholars went on a field trip to the Morton Arboretum! While there, students went on a scavenger hunt to explore and learn about its tree-filled landscape. They also met with employees from Morton to learn about career and internship opportunities! Thank you to our generous Haerther Trustees for hosting this great event - we are blessed!
