McAuley produces "I Never Saw Another Butterfly"

McAuley presented its spring play, I Never Saw Another Butterfly, on April 3 and 4, 2025. The cast and crew brought the story of survival, courage and hope to life through their strong acting, musical talents, and detailed set.

Overview of the Show

From 1942 to 1945, 15000 Jewish children, many Czech, passed through Terezin, a camp used as a holding place for prisoners before they were sent to Auschwitz. Imprisoned artists and teachers committed themselves to creating a school within the walls of camp, and in doing so helped the children learn and cope, and also preserved pieces of Jewish culture. The play uses actual poems, diaries, journals, music, and drawings to tell the story that very few of the children survived to tell. Although the play is tragic, the theme of survival, courage, and hope is very strong. We would be so appreciative if you would encourage students to attend the show.

Our Mighty Macs worked with the residents to make pumpkin centerpieces to give to families served through Pat’s Pantry. Our students and residents both had a lovely time getting to know each other while serving the community.

A Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration!

On October 10, our entire school community gathered together for a wonderful prayer service in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month organized by the Latinas Lead club. The service included prayers and petitions, student and faculty reflections, dances and musical performances.

Our Mariachi Club had the opportunity to play with the Latin Grammy nominated Mariachi Herencia de Mexico group! It was a great experience to celebrate the Hispanic culture and community.
