Mercy Week 2024 Recap!

Mercy Week 2024 Recap!

Our entire school community gathered together to open Mercy Week with a wonderful Mass presided by Fr. Mark Walter.

On September 24, we held our annual celebration for Mercy Day, the anniversary of Catherine McAuley opening the first House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland. Students participated in skits about inspirational Sisters of Mercy; we awarded our time-honored Catherine McAuley Award to senior Grace Kearns '25 and faculty member Mary Ellen Clifford '84, who embody Catherine's spirit and live out her legacy of service, compassion, and hospitality; and rejoiced and danced together to "Why We Tell the Story," a tradition that has been with us now for more than two decades.

We also ran our most successful Mercy Day of Giving yet! In true McAuley fashion, we not just met, but exceed our goals of raising $175,000 from 750 donors with $190,259 raised from 798 donors for our 24-hour giving day!

During the week, we made the connection between Mass and our lived Mission by making sandwiches for The Port Ministries during lunch periods.

We were also excited to welcome the Misericordia Heartbreakers back to our school this Mercy Week! Their performance had every student on their feet and touched all of our hearts, as usual! After the performance, we celebrated on the turf field with snow cones, games, and fun.
