8th grade girls who are interested in attending Mother McAuley must take the Entrance Exam on December 6, 2025. That day, families will receive a packet with additional paperwork to complete the application.

Test Day Information

On the day of the exam (Saturday, December 6, 2025) students should bring:
- several No. 2 pencils.
- the $25 exam fee (for students not pre-registered). Cash or a check made payable to Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School are acceptable forms of payment.
- please note that calculators are NOT permitted.
Students may only take the entrance exam at one Catholic high school. Pre-registration will open in November 2025.
Mother McAuley administers the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Study guides for this exam may be purchased online or at local bookstores. Be sure the study guide includes the HSPT Entrance Exam. You may also visit https://www.studyguidezone.com/hspttest.htm for more information about the exam.
The Mother McAuley entrance exam is designed to be taken without the use of a calculator. Students may NOT bring a calculator on the day of the test.
Criteria used for decisions regarding acceptance and placement include results of the HSPT Entrance Exam taken at McAuley along with 7th and 8th grade grammar school records.
Letters of acceptance will be mailed in early February as set by the Office of Catholic Schools.
8th grade students must take the entrance exam at McAuley to be eligible to apply for scholarships.

Scholarship & Financial Aid Information

We offer a variety of scholarship opportunities for incoming freshmen; those applications will become available on December 6. Please note, 8th grade students must take the entrance exam at McAuley to be eligible for scholarships.

In addition, we offer robust financial aid packages. Your financial aid package will be made available after your child takes the Entrance Exam at Mother McAuley and is formally accepted, but prior to the registration process. Financial aid award letters notifications will be sent in February. For the 2025-2026 school year, the average Mother McAuley financial aid award was $1,900. 70% of applicants receive financial assistance.

We also encourage you to learn about the outside organizations with which we partner and apply for financial aid opportunities through their application processes.

Accommodations

If you are interested in testing with accommodations for the High School Placement Test (HSPT), Mother McAuley can provide extended time as well as a smaller testing environment on the entrance exam to students who provide the following:

An IEP, 504 or ICEP Plan from this school year
A neuropsychological evaluation within the last three school years (December 2022 - December 2025).
A parent must complete the HSPT Request for Accommodations form
