Summer Camps 2024

McAuley Fine Arts Department Chairperson and art teacher Mrs. Kathy Gordon Davis, who is known to many businesses, schools, and individuals as an esteemed artist in the Chicagoland area, once again is offering Art Camp – a favorite experience among many young students! The camp encompasses two weeks of fun, creativity, and adventures in art. Through a variety of practice activities, individualized instruction, and creative projects, campers will develop drawing, painting, and sculpting skills and techniques.

Join principal Dr. Katie Baal in a baking adventure this summer! Enjoy the once-in-a-summer opportunity to learn fundamental baking skills and fun recipes with the principal of Mother McAuley. Campers will explore and develop their creativity and problem-solving skills through baking tasty treats.

Join the Brother Rice Mother McAuley Summer Band Camp for a rewarding experience including Marching, Performing, and Team Building. You will enjoy working with both the Mother McAuley and Brother Rice bands regardless of experience! Come join Mr. Eberhard, Mr. Alifantis, Ms. Haak, and the wonderful Brother Rice & Mother McAuley Band Students and make lifelong memories this summer at Band Camp!

Join us for a week of literary exploration! Campers will explore a genre by reading a short novel, participating in novel-related activities, playing interactive games, and viewing engaging film. Through this experience, campers will foster critical thinking skills, creativity, and a sense of community. This year’s selection is MYSTERY. Campers will read And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Books will be provided at camp.

ENTERING GRADES 6 - 8 | $100

Campers will foster their creative writing talents through a variety of writing workshop opportunities and word-play games. From paper and pencil compositions to mixed media platforms, we will explore journaling, poetry, short stories, comics, and more! Each camper will receive a keepsake journal and have access to supplies that will encourage creative self-expression.

Crochet camp is a hands-on class to learn how to crochet. We will learn basic stitches and complete a small project. Students can show their creativity with this timeless activity. All supplies will be provided.

Campers will explore a culinary experience in preparing, cooking, and tasting a variety of foods.

Digital Photography Camp will give girls an introductory, hands-on experience to explore the magic of digital photography. Using digital cameras and phones, campers will learn the basics of photography, and how to get the “optimal exposure” within their shots.

Campers will learn the fundamentals of the video games played competitively on the Mother McAuley/Brother Rice Mighty Crusaders esports team. Video game titles include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 3, League of Legends, Overwatch 2, and Rocket League. The video games have an ESRB rating from E for everyone to T for teen. Controllers and other video game equipment can be brought, but it is not required.

Campers will have the opportunity to learn about what goes into putting a story together for the news, and will also get to play around with some of the equipment we have (green screen, microphones, etc) and even put together some on the go reports around the school.

This enrichment camp has hands-on, project based sessions that give girls the opportunity to explore in a creative environment and look at things in a new way. Each day will have a different theme with sessions in art, music, theater, creative writing, technology, science and cooking. The goal of our enthusiastic faculty and camp counselors is to make learning and problem-solving fun!

Stage Crew camp gives students 6th-8th grade the opportunity to learn set and prop construction, scene painting and stage makeup techniques and a glimpse into lighting and sound design. Students will assist in the construction of the stage for the Curtain Call Camp show.

Campers will have the opportunity to explore various scientific fields, from biology and chemistry to engineering and everything in between! We will apply the STEM skills of problem solving and inquiry based learning by investigating real world scenarios.

Strings Camp is an opportunity for String players of all levels of experience to be part of a fun and engaging orchestra! Beginners will enjoy the excitement of starting a new instrument while experienced players will develop leadership. Violins, Violas, Cellos, and Basses are supplied to those who do not own a personal instrument free of charge.
