Alumnae Basketball Night

On January 27, 2022, our alumnae came back to McAuley to cheer on the Mighty Mac Basketball team as they took on the Lincoln-Way Central Knights. The Mighty Macs won in an exciting and close game. We celebrated the win in the lounge with pizza and drinks!

Welcome back, Macs!

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, five Catherine  McAuley Honors Society (CMHS) alumnae visited with over 100 current CMHS members, to discuss their careers. Lizzy Malone ‘14 shared stories of  life as a hospital administrator at Northwestern. Marlena Sweiss ‘15 talked about her work as a nurse at Loyola Medical Center, and her graduate school work toward becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Sarah Law ’16 and Tyler Bentley ‘17, law students at Chicago-Kent College of Law and Northwestern University, explained different phases of law and dove deeper into their law school journeys.
Bridie Carroll ’17 consulted with them about her consultant work at Guidehouse. We are so grateful  to our alumnae who come back and inspire our current students!

Entrepreneurs Jenny Dunne Harkins ‘92 (Treadfit), Morgan Ingersoll Winters ‘03 (Lemolade), Bridget Carey Thatcher ‘06 (You Glow Girl), and Simone Johnson ‘16 (House of GLAM, LLC) all served as advisors for Mother McAuley’s  Business Class’ Shark Tank Project. These alumnae listened to pitches, gave feedback and advice, and answered questions  about their businesses! We are so grateful for their time and talents - our students learned so much!

On Thursday, May 19, nine CMHS alumnae from the Class of 2018 and Class of 2021, who attend eight different colleges, visited with current CMHS freshman, sophomores, and juniors. The group dis-cussed colleges, activities, majors, and other topics. We are proud of all their accomplishments and so happy they came back to visit!

South Side Irish Parade

On Sunday, March 13, 2022 Mother McAuley walked in the South Side Irish Parade! We were gratefully accompanied by McAuley alumnae: Abbey Murphy ‘20 - US Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Silver Medalist - and Bailey O’Connell ‘16 - the South Side Irish Queen! Abbey, Bailey, our student ambassadors, and faculty and staff who attended the parade represented the very best of McAuley and spread the Mighty Mac spirit throughout the neighborhood.

Alumnae Induction

On Friday, May 6, we inducted 210 members of the Class of 2022 into the Mother McAuley Alumnae Association at the end of school year prayer service! It was the last time our entire school community gathered with the Class of 2022 and Retiring President Mary Acker Klingenberger ’75. Kathleen Mixan ‘03, Director of Student Services, addressed the Class of 2022, reflected on their time at McAuley, shared advice of the women they should continue to be, and wished them well as they leave the halls of McAuley. Senior, Grace White '22, reflected with her class on their last four years as Mighty Macs. As a parting gift, the seniors received McAuley Alumnae Beach Towels! They will definitely bring the sun and fun wherever they go.

Maria McCormack ‘16, Alumnae Coordinator, led the seniors in the Induction Pledge and officially welcomed them into the sisterhood of 28,500 McAuley alumnae women!

McAuley Night at the White Sox game

What a great night for celebrating two south side traditions... Mother McAuley & the Chicago White Sox! Special thanks to our Mother McAuley Fathers’ Club for hosting this wonderful event to get the whole Mighty Mac community together.  Former President Mary Acker Klingenberger ‘75, new President Carey Temple Harrington ‘86, and Fathers’ Club Members Nick Schmidt and Scott McQuillen graciously accepted a check from the White Sox on the field. In the end, we sold over 560 tickets that will go back to the efforts of our amazing Fathers’ Club! The Mother McAuley Chorus beautifully sang the national anthem on the field under the direction of Carrie Peterson Alifantis ‘87 and Julie Wogan McKee ‘93.  It was a very memorable McAuley Night!
