Mother McAuley’s storied athletic tradition and unparalleled success has spanned throughout the state of Illinois and across the nation for decades.

By offering 16 different sports with multiple levels, Mother McAuley is able to provide our student athletes with an extraordinary opportunity for growth and competition at the highest levels.

More than 425 students are involved in one or more of our interscholastic sports.  Our volleyball team has more titles than any other school in the state, and 4 out of 5 freshmen are involved in one or more sports.

Senior heads to state swimming competition!

Wyndel Ellis '26 qualified for the Swim State Finals in the 100 freestyles and 200 freestyle races, and will represent the Mighty Macs this weekend! Wyndel was sent to state in true Mighty Mac style as MacNation celebrated this accomplishment with a cart ride during the fall pep rally!

Head volleyball coach celebrates 30th season

On October 2, we honored Head Volleyball Coach, Jen Rees DeJarld '87, on her 30th year of coaching at Mother McAuley! We are MIGHTY grateful for her years of dedication to our athletic program.

Golf team wins regional championship

Congratulations to the varsity golf team, who won the regional championship this week, with Lauren Barron '26, Delia Sullivan '26 and Annmarie O'Malley '28 tying for second place overall! The team will play in the sectional on Monday, October 6. Go Macs!

Mighty Mac Golf team places 4th in GCAC championships!

Congratulations to the McAuley golf team on their 4th place overall finish at the 2025 GCAC championships, one of the toughest golf conferences in the state. We are MIGHTY proud of our two all-conference honorees, AnnMarie O'Malley '28 and Avery Shipman '27!

Senior qualifies for high jump in track state finals

Congratulations to Mary Claire Deacy '25 on qualifying for the Track State Finals!
Mary Claire qualified for high jump, and she will be competing down state for the second year in a row. MacNation sent her off with a cart ride through Main Hall on May 22!

Senior scores 100th goal

Congratulations to Kay Moody '25, who scored her 100th career goal in lacrosse on May 14! This MIGHTY milestone was hit during the LaCROSSe Out Cancer: Playing For A Cure event, making the event even more memorable for the senior and team co-captain.

On May 14, our Mighty Mac Varsity Lacrosse team took the field against Montini in honor of all those impacted by breast cancer. The McAuley Lacrosse program sold t-shirts as part of a fundraiser kickstarted by Kathleen Finnin '25 and Brigid Finnin '27

Cheering for our spring athletes!

We had a MIGHTY day at our Spring It On event on May 5! Attendees cheered on our Mighty Mac softball, soccer and lacrosse teams while enjoying games, music, food trucks, contests and prizes. Thanks to all the Mighty Mac fans who brought so much amazing energy to 99th Street!

Spring semester Macs with Merit

On March 18, we hosted a ceremony and breakfast for students and their families to celebrate this semester's Macs with Merit! Macs with Merit is an award given to a student by a teacher or staff member on behalf of their honorable character, diligent work ethic, and notable contributions to the McAuley community.

Winter Pep Rally

Students, faculty and staff gathered together for our winter pep rally! With games and activities, a performance by the Mighty Mac cheerleaders, and more, it was a MIGHTY fun day!

Senior places 2nd in IHSA State Girls Wrestling Championships

Maggie Zuber '25 put a bow on her outstanding career with a 2nd place finish in the 140lb weight class at the IHSA Girls Wrestling Championships. Maggie defeated opponents from SJ Ogden, Fremd and New Trier before falling to a formidable opponent from Collinsville High School. Congratulations Maggie! 

Cheerleading team qualifies for first state final

After just three years as a program, we are MIGHTY proud to congratulate the Mother McAuley Cheerleading Team on qualifying for the IHSA State Finals in the Large Team Division!
MacNation cheered them on with a cart ride through the halls before they head down state to compete this weekend! Wishing the best of luck to the entire team and our coaching staff, all of whom are Mother McAuley alumnae!

Mother McAuley Tops IHSA’s List of the 50 Greatest Girls Volleyball Programs of the Last 50 Years

Mother McAuley High School is excited to announce that the school’s volleyball program has been recognized as #1 in the state in celebration of the 50th edition of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Volleyball State Series. Selected by a prestigious committee of current and former volleyball coaches, administrators, and media members, this announcement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of McAuley’s athletes, coaches and supporters over the years.

Junior qualifies for IHSA swim state finals

We are MIGHTY proud to congratulate Wyndel Ellis '26 on qualifying for the Swim State Finals! Wyndel finished sectionals with two state qualifying times in the 100 Free & 200 Free. She will compete this coming weekend in finals.
