Mother McAuley’s storied athletic tradition and unparalleled success has spanned throughout the state of Illinois and across the nation for decades.

By offering 13 different sports with multiple levels, Mother McAuley is able to provide our student athletes with an extraordinary opportunity for growth and competition at the highest levels.

More than 425 students are involved in one or more of our interscholastic sports.  Our volleyball team has more titles than any other school in the state, and 4 out of 5 freshmen are involved in one or more sports.

Mighty Macs are back to back State Champions!

The Mighty Macs won the 2023 Class 4A State Championship on Saturday, November 11. On Monday, November 13, the team brought the trophy home in style! Members of the local, county, and state police and fire departments escorted the team onto our turf field, where our school community gathered for a victory rally.

We kicked off our school day with a MacNation Pep Rally to celebrate the successful seasons of all of the fall sports teams AND to send our volleyball team off to STATE!! It was a MAC-TASTIC morning!

Cross country duo qualifies for state

Cross country runners Eileen O'Connor '24 and Emily Mangin '26 qualified for state finals, and the entire cross country team for finished 8TH in the Sectional Meet this past weekend.

ABC 7 visits Mother McAuley

WOW, it was a MIGHTY special morning on 99th Street! ABC 7's Terrell Brown sang Taylor Swift with Acapella, sipped Starbucks in the Kitty Mac Cafe, played volleyball with the State Champs, crowd-surfed with MacNation on our turf field, and officially became a Mighty Mac when he threw on the M costume himself.

Our girls truly showed ABC 7 what McAuley is all about, and we did it all before the sun came up!

Rise to the Challenge for Mercy Day of Giving

We know McAuley women are unafraid to face challenges head on. They lead with conviction. They advocate for others with compassion. They set weighty goals and exceed their own expectations.

This Mercy Day of Giving, September 22, we are asking our alumnae, family and friends to Rise to the Challenge and help us reach our goal of raising $150,000 from 600+ donors for Mother McAuley.

Fall Athletics Tryouts

Fall tryouts will begin in early August. The number of tryout days varies. Starting dates for all fall tryouts are listed below for each sport. Students must be present for the duration of their tryouts. Practices will start the day after tryouts are concluded and will be five or six days a week. Dress for activity and bring proper equipment.

We are so excited to congratulate Illinois Water Polo Coach of the Year: Maggie Wood Bax '07; All State First Team: Becca Engquist '24 and Bella Morquecho '23; and All State Third Team: Ella Mulchrone '23! We are so proud of every accomplishment this team has made throughout their season!

Soccer team assists Special Olympics

Our soccer team continues to have an amazing season on and off the field. Mighty Macs recently helped out at a Special Olympics event in Villa Park. They helped athletes work on their soccer skills and assisted the Special Olympics team in conducting a fun and empowering day!

Sophomore athlete qualifies for IHSA Wrestling State Tournament

Congratulations to Maggie Zuber ‘25 on qualifying for the IHSA Wrestling State Tournament! We are MIGHTY proud.

Students, faculty and staff lined the halls to celebrate our first Mighty Mac wrestler with a cart ride on Tuesday morning for a traditional cart ride to wish Maggie good luck as she heads to the IHSA Wrestling State Tournament this weekend!

Student Athlete named Gatorade Illinois Volleyball Play of the Year

Congratulations to junior Ellie White for being named the 2022-23 Gatorade Illinois Volleyball Player of the Year! This prestigious honor is bestowed upon the nation’s most outstanding high school athletes. Ellie was recognized for her athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character. We are MIGHTY proud Ellie for this most deserving honor!

Bringing the IHSA 4A Volleyball State Championship trophy home to MacNation!

Mother McAuley hosted a recognition rally to celebrate the team's accomplishments this season. Escorted by members of the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Fire Department, the state champions marched across campus and onto the newly installed athletic turf field, where the student body, teachers, administrators, parents, and community members cheered and offered their congratulations.

Congratulations to our varsity Volleyball Team for winning the Class 4A State Championship! On Saturday, the Mighty Macs defeated Benet Academy to bring home their 16th State Title!

Congrats to our Varsity Volleyball team on their win against Joliet West last night in the super sectional championship. The Mighty Macs are now headed to the State Championship in Normal, IL the weekend of November 11-12!

Volleyball team wins Sectional Championship!

The Mighty Macs are Sectional Champions after defeating Marist in the Sectional Finals. They will advance to the Super Sectional Championship at Eisenhower High School on November 4 at 6:30pm. Let's go Macs!

Every day at McAuley we celebrate girls. On International Day of the Girl we especially celebrate the opportunity McAuley provides for young women to become empowered leaders that change the world.

State-of-the-art turf field installed

We are thrilled to improve our athletic experience by adding a state-of-the-art turf field for our student athletes. This field brings our student athletes back to campus to practice and compete. We look forward to having our student athletes take the field and continue to build a community around these sports and each other.

Mother McAuley names new Head Basketball Coach

Mother McAuley is thrilled to announce that Curtis Lewis has been named the varsity basketball coach and assistant athletic director, effective immediately. Lewis brings more than 15 years of basketball coaching experience, a winning track record at various levels of competition including the collegiate level as a graduate assistant, and first-hand knowledge of the NCAA/NAIA recruiting policies, regulations, and admissions requirements.

Macs are Back!

The Mighty Mac volleyball team played Joliet Catholic in the first game of the year on August 23. MacNation came out to show their support as the team won in two games. 

Basketball team wins regional championship!

The varsity basketball team won the Regional Championship on February 18! Bella Finnegan '22 lead all scorers with 30pts. Morgan Feil '24 had 13 and Caitlyn McLean '23 joined in double digits with 10.
