School Counseling Welcome to the 2022 school year!! While the "worst" of the pandemic is hopefully behind us, we appreciate and recognize the ongoing need to prioritize your students' mental health! As our girls return to their classrooms, we know we are starting fresh but understand we cannot ignore the string of very challenging years behind us. With this in mind, a Needs Assessment (survey) will be administered to all grade levels to identify and support our students' academic, social/emotional, and college/career needs. Counselors will first meet with students that reported the highest amount of stress and encourage all students that need immediate support to reach out to their counselor to schedule a meeting. Additionally, we plan to meet with all freshmen students before the midpoint of the semester. If you would like your daughter to schedule a meeting with their counselor, please do not hesitate to reach out to your daughter's school counselor directly. Mrs. Wheeler, A-Gn swheeler@mothermcauley.org Mrs. Unold, Go-N junold@mothermcauley.org Mrs. Woronko, O-Z tworonko@mothermcauley.org College Counseling Next week, College Counseling will meet with seniors and review the college application process. At this point, seniors have completed or are in progress with the following: - Creating a Common Application Account
- Finalizing their college research spreadsheet
- Completing the FERPA waiver in the Common App
- Reviewing what schools require teacher/counselor letters of recommendation
- Requesting letters of recommendation from a teacher or a counselor
- Completing or in the process of finalizing college essays and having two other people proofread before submitting a final draft
- Matching the Common Application to Naviance
Seniors also learned how and when to request unofficial and official college transcripts, self-report grades, and submit ACT/SAT scores. The College Counseling presentations as well as other helpful resources are all located in Google Classroom. College counselors have begun meeting with students individually to review their college application progress. For questions or concerns, please contact your daughter's college counselor. Mrs. Lynch elynch@mothermcauley.org Ms. Mixan, Athletes kmixan@mothermcauley.org Mark your calendars for our Senior Parent Night on September 8, 2022 from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Dining Hall.
