Dear Mighty Mac Community,
This Friday, September 23 is Mercy Day at Mother McAuley. It is an annual tradition where students from Mercy schools join the worldwide Mercy community in celebrating Mercy Day. The day commemorates the date (September 24) on which Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, opened the House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland to shelter, feed and educate women and girls.
At Mother McAuley, Mercy Day takes on special significance as we gather together for a school wide celebration at 10:45 AM on Friday, September 23 to honor the wonderful works of Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy. In honor of the celebration, Friday will be a dress-up day for all students. Students are allowed to wear dresses, skirts or pants, however no jeans, shorts, midriffs or gym shoes are permitted.
Because of Mercy Day, special bell schedules will be followed on both Thursday, September 22 and Friday, September 23. All nine periods will meet once over the two days. In order to accommodate lunch periods on Thursday, we will run a reversed schedule on these days (see below). Students will be dismissed from school at 1:27 PM on Thursday, and our day will end at 11:45 AM on Friday. The school building will close at noon on Friday, and no students may be in the building past 12:00 PM.
