Prayer & Liturgy
Prayer and liturgy are essential elements of McAuley student life. Prayer, whether personal or communal, fosters our relationship with the God who loves us. Members of the McAuley community have many opportunities to develop this relationship throughout the year. Teachers are encouraged to begin each class with prayer, and the school community joins together in prayer every morning.
“The more you pray, the more you want to pray.” Pope Saint John XXIII
Liturgy literally means “the work of the people” and is the communal prayer of the Church. When we gather as a community to pray we bring our diverse gifts and unite our hearts and voices in praise of God. All members of the gathered assembly play an integral role in our communal prayer, and students, faculty, and staff serve as lectors, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers and musicians for our school liturgies.
In addition to school-wide liturgies, individual classes gather for prayer and worship. Deacon Bob Cislo, McAuley faculty member, presides at Communion Services in our West Chapel on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 A.M. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is held the first Friday of each month in the West Chapel, and opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation are offered throughout the year.
