Explore your Creativity

McAuley allows girls to explore their creativity and express themselves artistically. Our state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, and esteemed faculty provide the perfect environment for our girls to gain the confidence to star in our musicals, build sets for our productions, design our yearbook, decorate our hallways with original artwork, and fill out hearts with music.

McAuley fine arts students have been recognized at the national and state levels.

Fine Arts are part of the Curriculum!

Curriculum Guide

As part of McAuley's liberal arts curriculum, students are exposed to the fine arts. During freshman and sophomore years, they are introduced to the arts through beginning level classes and participate in fine arts clubs and activities. As juniors and seniors, students have the option of taking higher level courses.

Eliza Sweeney '25 - Young Artist Award Grand Prize Winner

Please join us in congratulating Eliza Sweeney '25 on being named the Grand Prize Winner of Chicago Public Library’s "Young Artist Award" as part of the Teen Winter Challenge!

Eliza's portfolio was selected from among 200 submissions, and it stood out for her exceptional skill in depicting realism. Eliza's artwork will be featured prominently at a downtown exhibit in the Harold Washington Library Center. The winning piece will also be included in the annual Teen Winter Challenge catalog, which will be added to the Chicago Public Library’s permanent collection - ensuring it remains accessible to the public for years to come!

MMc & BR Band/Orchestra Nashville Trip

Mother McAuley & Brother Rice Band and Orchestra students traveled to Nashville over Spring Break for an incredible trip full of music.

Our Mighty Macs visited the Grand Ole Opry, recorded at RCA Studio B (the same studio used by Elvis, Dolly Parton, Chet Atkins, and so much more), performed at the National Museum of African American Music, saw Elvis Presley's Piano, and even spotted a celebrity along the way!

Southside Irish Parade

Our Mighty Macs marched in both the Southside Irish Parade and the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade during St. Patrick's Day Weekend! The parades made us proud to celebrate McAuley's Irish Heritage and the Chicago community that we've been a part of for more than 175 years. Special thanks to the BRMM Band and all of our alumnae who joined us!

Art from the Heart

Mother McAuley students participated in Advocate Christ Medical Center's annual art contest to expand its permanent art collection. This competition was open to students from schools involved in the "Live from the Heart" Program, and the submissions were judged by faculty from Saint Xavier University and experts from Acorns to Oaks Studio. Students from Mother McAuley stood out by having their artwork displayed, some chosen for the hospital’s permanent collection, and others received various awards.
