Mercy Day of Giving

Mercy Day of Giving was established in 2013. This online fundraising which takes place in celebration of Mercy Day. This year, the event will kick off at 12:00am on September 24, 2024 and run until 11:59pm that evening.

Mercy Day marks the anniversary of the opening of the first “House of Mercy” in 1827 in Dublin, Ireland. Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy and our high school, Mother McAuley, devoted her life to the poor, sick and uneducated, and on this day we continue her legacy of caring and compassion in the name of Mercy.

Alumnae, students, parents, and friends from all over the world have the opportunity to celebrate our heritage through social media posts highlighting the best of Mother McAuley. These posts remind our constituents of the wonderful community of which we are blessed to be a part, and encourage them to give back to ensure our commitment to educating young women in the Mercy tradition lives on.
