Parent Club Information

The Fathers' & Mothers' Clubs give of their time and talents to enthusiastically support the mission of Catherine McAuley. Membership is open to all parents and guardians of Mother McAuley students and provides wonderful opportunities to make new friends and build lasting memories of your daughter’s time at McAuley. Both clubs plan and execute projects and events which benefit the school, students and families, as well as the surrounding community. Each year, the clubs underwrite the cost of the bus transportation to safely transport our seniors and their dates to the Senior Prom!

Last month, French III H and French IV students took a field trip to the Alliance Francaise de Chicago to be immersed in French culture through viewing a French film and participating in cooking class where they prepared crepes, croissants, and more!

At the beginning of April, our World Language Department held the induction ceremony for their honor societies. Congratulations to the newly inducted members of the National Spanish Honors Society and French Honors Society!

On April 1, Senior Peer Ministers led a Holy Week prayer service for each Theology class where they read the account of Jesus washing the feet of the disciples, offered a reflection, and symbolically washed the hands of students and teachers. It was a wonderful way to enter more fully into the sacred days of Holy Week in preparation for Easter.

On March 20th, our Faculty & Staff gathered together for a Spirituality Day to spend some intentional time growing in our shared mission. Throughout the day, we facilitated a mobile food pantry, packed bag lunches, and wrote cards to families at Ronald McDonald House.
Special thanks to Marquette Bank, Illinois Partners in Hope, & The Port Ministries for partnering with us on this meaningful day of service and spirituality.

Congratulations to Jazlene Meza '26 on being selected as a finalist in the Chicago Public Library’s Teen Winter Challenge! As a finalist, Jazlene's artwork will be featured in the program’s print catalog, which is entered into the Chicago Public Library's permanent collection.

Macs with Merit is an award given to a student by a teacher or staff member on behalf of their honorable character, diligent work ethic, and notable contributions to the McAuley community.

On Sunday, March 1, our club Macs LEAD along with Brother Rice, took the Polar Plunge in honor of Special Olympics. Our team, Best of Both Worlds, raised over $13,000, the second most money raised by any high school. This is the 8th year Mother McAuley has participated in the Polar Plunge.

Celebrating Black History Month: Ashley Nicole Russell '14

Ashley Nicole Russell is a music executive, artist manager, and Recording Academy® Professional Member whose career bridges entertainment, leadership, and community impact. Recently announced as the Vice President of A&R at DaiDrm, she continues to expand her work at the intersection of artist development, distribution, and strategic growth following the label’s joint venture with Create Music Group. A proud Class of 2014 graduate of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, Ashley began her journey in the performing arts through musicals, choir, and live performances that shaped her confidence and creative foundation. Today, she works closely with emerging artists such as Amari Noelle and Shamon Brown Jr., known for their role on the hit television series The Chi, while serving on the GRAMMY® Member Engagement Committee, the MusiCares® Committee, and as a GRAMMY U Mentor—helping cultivate and empower the next generation of music professionals. Passionate about creating opportunities and amplifying diverse voices, Ashley is committed to building spaces where creativity and business align.

Mac Melody had a MIGHTY successful show choir competition season! They recently participated in competitions in Crete, IL and Chesterton, IN - competing against teams that were twice their size. Our competitive cheer team is headed down state for the second year in a row! The Macs finished 4th at the competitive Reavis sectional, earning a spot in the 2026 IHSA state finals. We held a cart ride to send them off in true Mighty Mac fashion. Let's go Macs!

Our entire school community gathered together on January 26 for a wonderful Mass in celebration of Catholic Schools Week. We were honored to be joined by Bishop Dan Turley, OSA, an Augustinian and good friend of McAuley's chaplain, Fr. Tom McCarthy, and Pope Leo XIV. The Bishop led us in prayer and inspired our community as we started our week-long celebration.

We are MIGHTY proud to announce that Mother McAuley has been named to College Board's 2025 AP® School Honor Roll, earning Platinum distinction.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening participation. Mother McAuley had 80% of seniors who took at least one AP Exam during high school, 53% of seniors scoring a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, and 27% of seniors who took five or more AP Exams in the 2024-2025 school year!

Six students receive Ella French Scholarship

The Ella French Scholarship is awarded annually by the Chicago Police Foundation to honor the legacy of Officer Ella French, who tragically lost her life in the line of duty in 2021. The scholarship supports students who are children or dependents of Chicago Police officers or are involved in CPD youth programs.

We had a SPOOKTACULAR time at Not So Haunted House on October 27! Our clubs and organizations facilitated fun activities including trick or treating, games, crafts and photo experiences for the more than 500 kids and their families who joined us for this event! Our students enjoyed welcoming alumnae and community members into our school and working with children to make them smile!

The Class of 2027 was celebrated at the Junior Leadership Prayer Service on October 21! Students and their parents / guardians were invited for breakfast followed by a prayer service and blessing of school rings and pins. It was a MIGHTY morning celebrating our junior class!

A Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration!

On October 10, our entire school community gathered together for a wonderful prayer service in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month organized by the Latinas Lead club. The service included prayers and petitions, student and faculty reflections, dances and musical performances.

Our Mariachi Club had the opportunity to play with the Latin Grammy nominated Mariachi Herencia de Mexico group! It was a great experience to celebrate the Hispanic culture and community.

Golf team wins regional championship

Congratulations to the varsity golf team, who won the regional championship this week, with Lauren Barron '26, Delia Sullivan '26 and Annmarie O'Malley '28 tying for second place overall! The team will play in the sectional on Monday, October 6. Go Macs!

This past Wednesday, September 24th, we celebrated Mercy Day, joining a global celebration to commemorate the day Catherine McAuley opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland in 1827. For the past several years, we have expanded our celebration of Mercy Day from one day, to a full Mercy Week!

Mighty Mac Golf team places 4th in GCAC championships!

Mercy Day of Giving surpasses goals - most successful giving day yet!

Mercy Day of Giving, a 24-hour giving campaign for Mother McAuley, was held on Wednesday, September 24. We are thrilled to share it has been our most successful giving day yet! We surpassed our goals and raised more than $225,000 from more than 900 donors (and counting!) in support of our Mighty Macs.

Homecoming week ends with New York-themed Homecoming Dance!

McAuley's 2025 Homecoming Week celebrated the theme “MacNation Goes on Vacation.” Students, faculty and staff had the chance to dress down in the theme for each day and participate in some fun games and activities happening during lunch periods. The week ended with the homecoming dance, open to all ages: MacNation travels to New York City for a Dance on the Town!

On Thursday, September 11, Student Life held its first event with Mercy Circle. Nearly 25 students from various clubs and organizations visited Mercy Circle following the early dismissal to mingle with the residents and engage in a Catherine McAuley trivia game! Students also brought in nonperishable pantry items to donate to Pat’s Pantry in Mount Greenwood for this event.

One of our favorite McAuley traditions for more than 40 years - we were so excited to welcome the Misericordia Heartbreakers to our school on September 18! Their performance had every student on their feet and touched all of our hearts, as usual! After the performance, we celebrated on the turf field with snow cones, games, and fun!

We are MIGHTY proud to share that 28 Mother McAuley students received the School Recognition Award from the College Board Recognition Program! The School Recognition Award (introduced in 2025) celebrates students who demonstrated academic excellence within their school community. To qualify, a student must score among the top 10% of their high school’s test takers on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 and/or earn a 3+ on 2 or more distinct AP exams by 10th grade.

Mother McAuley High School will host the school's annual Fore the Macs: Playing  it Forward Golf Outing on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Ridge Country Club. The annual fundraiser benefits the Tradition of Excellence Scholarship at McAuley with nine holes of golf. The 2024 event raised more than $130,000 in scholarships for the incoming Class of 2029.  At this year’s event, McAuley is honored to present the 2025 Caring Heart Award to the Tom Hopkins Foundation, recognizing its commitment to giving back to families affected by cancer and supporting youth athletics.

Last week, the Class of 2026 attended their Junior Service Retreat! This year's retreat focused on addressing food insecurity, both locally and globally. Groups of students spent their morning packing meals at The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Catholic Charities Chicago, and Feed My Starving Children. It was a meaningful day full of service and reflection!

Members of our Macs LEAD (Leadership, Education, and Awareness of Disabilities) club led the charge in organizing McAuley's participation in the Chicago Polar Plunge. They joined forces with Brother Rice as the Best of Both Worlds Team to raise over $15,000 for Special Olympics Chicago! Among the 23 the school teams that participated, Best of Both Worlds, came in second for fundraising.

Senior places 2nd in IHSA State Girls Wrestling Championships

Maggie Zuber '25 put a bow on her outstanding career with a 2nd place finish in the 140lb weight class at the IHSA Girls Wrestling Championships. Maggie defeated opponents from SJ Ogden, Fremd and New Trier before falling to a formidable opponent from Collinsville High School. Congratulations Maggie!

Earlier this month, Mac Melody won Grand Champions in their division at their competition in Chesterton, Indiana, and their band won Best Band! Last weekend, they won 3rd Runner Up and Best Crew at their competition in El Paso/Gridley.

McAuley earns AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for 5th Year

Mother McAuley has earned the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) for the fifth year in a row. Schools honored with an AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded access to AP computer science courses for female students in their communities.

This day-long event allows students to engage with their fellow classmates, dive deeper into their faith and Mercy values, and build on the sense of community that began during the three-day Empower: First Year Experience orientation in August.

They've also performed at the ILMEA District 1 Festival, to the Chriskindlmarket downtown, to Misericordia, Smith Village, and more!

Mother McAuley High School is excited to announce that the school’s volleyball program has been recognized as #1 in the state in celebration of the 50th edition of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Volleyball State Series. Selected by a prestigious committee of current and former volleyball coaches, administrators, and media members, this announcement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of McAuley’s athletes, coaches and supporters over the years.

Last week, Peer Ministry students prayed, mourned, and paid their respects to 101 indigent, unknown people buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Our students were present to walk with these souls to their final resting place. This was an educational opportunity for the students, and it was also an opportunity to carry out our mercy mission, as burying the dead is a corporal work of mercy.
