Last month, French III H and French IV students took a field trip to the Alliance Francaise de Chicago to be immersed in French culture through viewing a French film and participating in cooking class where they prepared crepes, croissants, and more!

At the beginning of April, our World Language Department held the induction ceremony for their honor societies. Congratulations to the newly inducted members of the National Spanish Honors Society and French Honors Society!

On April 1, Senior Peer Ministers led a Holy Week prayer service for each Theology class where they read the account of Jesus washing the feet of the disciples, offered a reflection, and symbolically washed the hands of students and teachers. It was a wonderful way to enter more fully into the sacred days of Holy Week in preparation for Easter.

During this Lenten season, we were proud to offer the Sacrament of Confirmation to seven of our Mother McAuley students, who have been supported through our confirmation program as they grew in faith and discernment of their beliefs.

• Quinn Arundel '26: IBCA 2nd team All-State 4A
• Taji Alexa '27: IBCA 3rd team All-State 4A

These student athletes were selected for this honor by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Representatives based on their success during the 2025-2026 season.

The Advanced Chorus and orchestra performed a special evening of music in the Mercy Chapel on March 4. Special thanks to Anna Vandekerchove Rasmussen '09 for performing with us and all who joined us for our Sacred Concert!

Students who participated in the March Macs with Mercy built birdhouses with the Sisters of Mercy who live in Mercy Circle. The birdhouses will be delivered to Pat's Pantry.

Two of our Mighty Macs were recognized at the state level for their outstanding academic & athletic achievements: Emily Mangin '26 – Illinois Athletic Directors Association All-State Team; and Wyndel Ellis '26 – IHSA All-State Academic Team Honorable Mention.

On Sunday, March 1, our club Macs LEAD along with Brother Rice, took the Polar Plunge in honor of Special Olympics. Our team, Best of Both Worlds, raised over $13,000, the second most money raised by any high school. This is the 8th year Mother McAuley has participated in the Polar Plunge.

On February 24, Mother McAuley welcomed back our Black Alumnae for an inspiring breakfast hosted by our Black Student Union. It was an impactful morning filled with keynote speakers, student reflections, and meaningful roundtable discussions. Mac Melody had a MIGHTY successful show choir competition season! They recently participated in competitions in Crete, IL and Chesterton, IN - competing against teams that were twice their size. We are SO proud to share that Mac Melody was named Grand Champion in their division at BOTH competitions!

We are proud to congratulate 10 of our MIGHTY talented artists who were recently named 2025 Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Award recipients! Selected from thousands of submissions throughout Cook County, these students earned distinction for their exceptional visual artwork, reflecting both their dedication and artistic skill.

On February 12, our entire school community gathered together for our Black History Month Prayer Service. Thank you to our Black Student Union for hosting the beautiful service filled with community, prayer, reflection, and music!

Our competitive cheer team is headed down state for the second year in a row! The Macs finished 4th at the competitive Reavis sectional, earning a spot in the 2026 IHSA state finals. We held a cart ride to send them off in true Mighty Mac fashion. Let's go Macs!

Our entire school community gathered together on January 26 for a wonderful Mass in celebration of Catholic Schools Week. We were honored to be joined by Bishop Dan Turley, OSA, an Augustinian and good friend of McAuley's chaplain, Fr. Tom McCarthy, and Pope Leo XIV. The Bishop led us in prayer and inspired our community as we started our week-long celebration.

We are MIGHTY proud to announce that Mother McAuley has been named to College Board's 2025 AP® School Honor Roll, earning Platinum distinction.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening participation. Mother McAuley had 80% of seniors who took at least one AP Exam during high school, 53% of seniors scoring a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, and 27% of seniors who took five or more AP Exams in the 2024-2025 school year!

Senior students attended the first Kairos weekend of 2026 January 8 - 11! This retreat allows students a chance to immerse themselves in God's time, bringing them closer to their faith and their peers. This marks our 166th Kairos retreat!

The Mother McAuley Choral Groups were MIGHTY busy spreading Christmas cheer all around Chicagoland this season, including the Chicago Christkindlmarket.

We rang in the season during our annual Christmas Concerts on December 14! The afternoon was full of Christmas cheer!

Mother McAuley was MIGHTY proud to be featured in WGN's Drive Thru Toy Drive on December 12! Ana Belaval joined us on 99th Street to talk with Principal Dr. Baal, Kruz Smith '27 and Lucy Maloney '26 about the importance of giving back during the holiday season.

On Friday, December 5, we held a special breakfast for our senior class. During the breakfast, students sang Christmas carols, decorated picture frames, and won various raffle prizes. There was even a special visit from Santa!

On December 8, our school community came together in prayer to honor the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. We are grateful to Fr. Tom McCarthy for leading a meaningful liturgy, and to all those who helped make the celebration so special. As we enter the Christmas season, our hearts are full of gratitude and hope.

MacNation kicked off the morning with a cart ride to congratulate Ryann O'Sullivan '27 and Grace Regalado '27 on being selected for the 2026 All-State Production of Newsies!

Congratulations to the entire company of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on a sold-out weekend of dazzling performances! The talented cast, crew, and pit orchestra spent countless hours rehearsing, dancing, and designing sets and costumes, all to bring this extraordinary and colorful production to life.

Our senior Theology students visited the Illinois Holocaust Museum last week, engaging with powerful stories of survival and resilience. This immersive experience encouraged them to reflect on history, ask hard questions and carry forward lessons of empathy, respect and hope.

On November 7th, Mother McAuley welcomed Fr. Nate Wills, C.S.C., Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame to lead our Professional Development day. Fr. Nate presented to faculty and staff from Mother McAuley and Brother Rice on the use of generative AI in the classroom setting.

Twenty-eight students from the Class of 2026 have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission presents this important recognition of academic achievement to exceptional Illinois high school students annually.

We are MIGHTY proud to congratulate five performing arts students who auditioned and performed in the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) District 1 Choir & Orchestra!

Wyndel Ellis '26 qualified for the Swim State Finals in the 100 freestyles and 200 freestyle races, and will represent the Mighty Macs this weekend! Wyndel was sent to state in true Mighty Mac style as MacNation celebrated this accomplishment with a cart ride during the fall pep rally!

Mother McAuley and Brother Rice gathered together on November 11 for a meaningful Veterans Day Prayer Service. It was a powerful opportunity for our communities to express profound gratitude for the bravery, service, and dedication of our nation's veterans.

Did you know? 94% of McAuley girls participate in one of our 50+ clubs and organizations! Our Mighty Macs were busy this past month volunteering, experimenting, and participating in hands-on activities with their clubs!

Peer Ministers from Mother McAuley & Brother Rice partnered to lead a Confirmation retreat for the 8th graders at Our Lady of the Ridge/St. Linus Parish! It was an incredible opportunity for our students to live out their faith and put their ministerial skills into action while guiding younger students on their spiritual journey.

Macs with Merit is an award given to a student by a teacher or staff member on behalf of their honorable character, diligent work ethic, and notable contributions to the McAuley community. We are so proud to congratulate this semester's Macs with Merit!

There was a MIGHTY great energy on 99th Street as we welcomed prospective families to Mother McAuley for our Open House! Future Macs had the opportunity to tour the school, explore our 50+ clubs and organizations, meet our student athletes, learn more about our curriculum, and so much more.

The Ella French Scholarship is awarded annually by the Chicago Police Foundation to honor the legacy of Officer Ella French, who tragically lost her life in the line of duty in 2021. The scholarship supports students who are children or dependents of Chicago Police officers or are involved in CPD youth programs.

Members of the National Art Honors Society hosted their annual pumpkin sale during lunch periods at the end of October for faculty, staff, and students. All proceeds from the sale benefit the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls - it's one of our favorite Fall traditions!

What an incredible moment as Pope Leo XIV poses with a McAuley t-shirt! Our very own chaplain, Father Tom McCarthy, O.S.A., recently visited with Pope Leo XIV and shared a piece of our Mighty Mac spirit by presenting the t-shirt and heartfelt letters from our students, advocating for Catherine McAuley's sainthood.

We had a SPOOKTACULAR time at Not So Haunted House on October 27! Our clubs and organizations facilitated fun activities including trick or treating, games, crafts and photo experiences for the more than 500 kids and their families who joined us for this event! Our students enjoyed welcoming alumnae and community members into our school and working with children to make them smile!

The Class of 2027 was celebrated at the Junior Leadership Prayer Service on October 21! Students and their parents / guardians were invited for breakfast followed by a prayer service and blessing of school rings and pins. It was a MIGHTY morning celebrating our junior class!

On October 10, our entire school community gathered together for a wonderful prayer service in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month organized by the Latinas Lead club. The service included prayers and petitions, student and faculty reflections, dances and musical performances.

Our Mariachi Club had the opportunity to play with the Latin Grammy nominated Mariachi Herencia de Mexico group! It was a great experience to celebrate the Hispanic culture and community.

In honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month, our Macs LEAD (Leadership, Education, and Awareness of Disabilities) Club made trick-or-treat buckets for children at Gigi's Playhouse!

Special thanks to our Science National Honors Society for organizing the annual Macs Walk for a Cure to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Their efforts helped fundraise money for one of our own student's family members battling cancer. We are MIGHTY proud.

On October 2, we honored Head Volleyball Coach, Jen Rees DeJarld '87, on her 30th year of coaching at Mother McAuley! We are MIGHTY grateful for her years of dedication to our athletic program.

We had a blast welcoming back alumnae from the classes of '85, '95, '05, and '15 for the Decades Reunion on September 26!

Congratulations to the varsity golf team, who won the regional championship this week, with Lauren Barron '26, Delia Sullivan '26 and Annmarie O'Malley '28 tying for second place overall! The team will play in the sectional on Monday, October 6. Go Macs!

This past Wednesday, September 24th, we celebrated Mercy Day, joining a global celebration to commemorate the day Catherine McAuley opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland in 1827. For the past several years, we have expanded our celebration of Mercy Day from one day, to a full Mercy Week!

Congratulations to the McAuley golf team on their 4th place overall finish at the 2025 GCAC championships, one of the toughest golf conferences in the state. We are MIGHTY proud of our two all-conference honorees, AnnMarie O'Malley '28 and Avery Shipman '27!

Mercy Day of Giving, a 24-hour giving campaign for Mother McAuley, was held on Wednesday, September 24. We are thrilled to share it has been our most successful giving day yet! We surpassed our goals and raised more than $225,000 from more than 900 donors (and counting!) in support of our Mighty Macs.

Congratulations to Emily Mangin '26 and Jamie Guardi '95, the recipients of the 2025 Catherine McAuley Award! These two women embody Catherine's spirit and live out her legacy of service, compassion, and hospitality. We are MIGHTY grateful to have them as part of the McAuley community.

McAuley's 2025 Homecoming Week celebrated the theme “MacNation Goes on Vacation.” Students, faculty and staff had the chance to dress down in the theme for each day and participate in some fun games and activities happening during lunch periods. The week ended with the homecoming dance, open to all ages: MacNation travels to New York City for a Dance on the Town!

On Thursday, September 11, Student Life held its first event with Mercy Circle. Nearly 25 students from various clubs and organizations visited Mercy Circle following the early dismissal to mingle with the residents and engage in a Catherine McAuley trivia game! Students also brought in nonperishable pantry items to donate to Pat’s Pantry in Mount Greenwood for this event.

One of our favorite McAuley traditions for more than 40 years - we were so excited to welcome the Misericordia Heartbreakers to our school on September 18! Their performance had every student on their feet and touched all of our hearts, as usual! After the performance, we celebrated on the turf field with snow cones, games, and fun!

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we are spotlighting Hispanic alumnae who are trailblazers and role models in our community. Julia Mosqueda is a Mexican-American Chicago native, 2013 McAuley graduate, and 2018 Illinois Institute of Technology College of Architecture graduate.

Juniors and Seniors battled in a game of powderpuff football under the lights on the turf field to kickoff homecoming week!

The second week of September brought two opportunities for students from Mother McAuley and Brother Rice to come together: a prayer service to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11, and a Bags Tournament.

Our first Kairos retreat of the year was held September 11 - 14! The weekend was full of prayer, reflection and connection for the members of the Class of 2026 in attendance, as well as the faculty and staff participants. 

We are MIGHTY proud to share that 28 Mother McAuley students received the School Recognition Award from the College Board Recognition Program! The School Recognition Award (introduced in 2025) celebrates students who demonstrated academic excellence within their school community. To qualify, a student must score among the top 10% of their high school’s test takers on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 and/or earn a 3+ on 2 or more distinct AP exams by 10th grade.

Our school year is off to a wonderful start! We celebrated our Opening Mass with the entire school community on August 22, and it was a powerful and inspiring way to begin the 2025-2026 school year. This year, we are especially blessed to welcome new faculty  members to our Mission & Ministry team, as well as a new chaplain - Father Tom McCarthy, O.S.A. 

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us at the Fore the Macs: Playing It Forward Golf Outing on August 21! We had an incredible time teeing up the Macs for success with all of you!

We are MIGHTY excited to welcome the Class of 2029 to Mother McAuley! Our freshman students kicked off the year during our Empower Together: First Year Experience, which included a family Mass and barbecue, followed by two full days of orientation, activities and fun for our newest Mighty Macs!

The Class of 2026 kicked off their senior year with a Happy Gilmore themed tailgate in the parking lot before their first day of school! 

We are MIGHTY proud to share that Samantha Johnson '28, Makenna Juarez '28, and Molly Racz '29 competed in the 2025 Junior Little League Softball World Series with the Evergreen Park Girls Softball Little League team this summer! They finished as the national runner-up, and won the sportsmanship award.

Our new group of senior Peer Ministers came together for an orientation and team building retreat at Camp Manitoqua mid-August. This was a great way to learn and grow as a team as they prepared for the 2025-2026 school year.

We are MIGHTY proud to share that Amanda Schuler '25 performed with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra at the world-famous Lollapalooza music festival in Grant Park on August 2 on a main stage!

Mother McAuley High School will host the school's annual Fore the Macs: Playing  it Forward Golf Outing on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Ridge Country Club. The annual fundraiser benefits the Tradition of Excellence Scholarship at McAuley with nine holes of golf. The 2024 event raised more than $130,000 in scholarships for the incoming Class of 2029.  At this year’s event, McAuley is honored to present the 2025 Caring Heart Award to the Tom Hopkins Foundation, recognizing its commitment to giving back to families affected by cancer and supporting youth athletics.

The Class of 2025 Commencement was filled with so many memorable moments, including four truly inspiring speeches from our students & faculty. 

Congratulations to Kay Moody '25, who scored her 100th career goal in lacrosse on May 14! This MIGHTY milestone was hit during the LaCROSSe Out Cancer: Playing For A Cure event, making the event even more memorable for the senior and team co-captain.

On May 14, our Mighty Mac Varsity Lacrosse team took the field against Montini in honor of all those impacted by breast cancer. The McAuley Lacrosse program sold t-shirts as part of a fundraiser kickstarted by Kathleen Finnin '25 and Brigid Finnin '27. 

It was a MIGHTY morning on 99th Street as we kicked off our school day with a MacNation Pep Rally! We celebrated the successful seasons of all of the spring sports teams AND introduced the new "M" for the 2025-2026 school year, Annie Sullivan '26!

On May 13, we held the International Thespian Society Induction and Theatre Awards Ceremony. Congratulations to all of the new inductees and award winners!

Our performing arts students had the opportunity to showcase their talents at our Choral, Strings, and Band concerts in May. We are grateful to all for their time and dedication, especially the members of the Class of 2025 as they participated in their final concert at McAuley.

We showcased the exceptional artwork that was created by our students in B-Wing throughout the school year during our annual Artapalooza! 

We had a MIGHTY day at our Spring It On event on May 5! Attendees cheered on our Mighty Mac softball, soccer and lacrosse teams while enjoying games, music, food trucks, contests and prizes. Thanks to all the Mighty Mac fans who brought so much amazing energy to 99th Street!

On May 7, we gathered together for our Honors Assembly to proudly celebrate our students' academic successes. Their outstanding achievements reflect the essence of Mother McAuley - a community devoted to excellence, mercy, faith, and the pursuit of knowledge.

We gathered together on May 5 for a very special Time & Eternity Mass. It was a beautiful service celebrating the legacy of our school and the end of another incredible school year on 99th Street.

Three Mother McAuley artists participated in the Saint Elizabeth Seton Church Creation Care 2025 Art Contest, with two winning top prizes: Eliza Sweeney '25 won 2nd place and Georgia Martin '26 took 3rd place.

Interior Designer, Kira Obermeier '04, visited our AP & Honors Studio Art classes the last week of April. Kira spoke with students about her career path in the interior design field and the process of opening her own full-service, luxury interior design studio with projects nationwide.

Amélie Villaseñor '25 is a nominee for Best Performer in an Actress Role for the 2025 Broadway in Chicago Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards (IHSMTA). She is one of 24 student nominees for best performer role.

Thank you to our Parent Clubs for hosting a MIGHTY night out at Bar 106 on May 1! We are so grateful to our community for coming out, and our faculty and staff guest bartenders for such great service with a smile. 

Over break, 44 of our choir, orchestra and band students traveled to Ireland to bring their beautiful music overseas!

Congratulations to the Professional ABC's Club on their second place finish in the State Championship Competition! Professional ABC's: Advice Beyond the Classroom is a club that provides opportunities for members to explore the soft skills needed in any professional career - including public speaking, networking, resume building, and more.

Join the National Art Honor Society for our annual Artapalooza on May 8, starting at 4:30pm! Take a look at the work from our talented student artists while enjoying food from Joey’s, Ohana’s Ice, and churros from Country House. We'll also feature work submitted by junior high students in our Jr. High Art Exhibit. Student artwork will be available for purchase.

We are MIGHTY proud to congratulate Asha Horton '25 on being selected as a Posse Scholar! Asha is set to embark on her academic journey at Connecticut College next year with the prestigious four-year, full-tuition Posse Scholarship.

Our Spring Honors Night induction ceremonies were held on April 15! Congratulations to all of the newly inducted members of National Honors Society, Science National Honors Society, National English Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, and French Honors Society!

Our entire school community gathered together for a Holy Week Prayer Service on April 15. Our peer ministers, theater students, and liturgical musicians made the story of the resurrection come to life. The service was moving, and helped our community reflect on the importance of Holy Week as we headed into Easter Sunday. 

Last week, the Class of 2026 attended their Junior Service Retreat! This year's retreat focused on addressing food insecurity, both locally and globally. Groups of students spent their morning packing meals at The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Catholic Charities Chicago, and Feed My Starving Children. It was a meaningful day full of service and reflection!

The Class of 2025 attended their senior prom on April 11. Students enjoyed dancing, dinner and fun at the Palmer House Hotel in downtown Chicago.

A special, MIGHTY thank you to the Mothers and Father's Clubs for sponsoring the buses for our students to and from prom.  

The Math Macs Team will be heading to the state competition on April 26. MacNation cheered them on with a cart ride through the Main Hall on April 10. We're MIGHTY proud of the entire Math Macs team and wishing them the best of luck at their competition!

A heartfelt thank you to alumna Melissa Svec '14 for presenting to three Psychology classes on April 9. Melissa, a school social worker at Chicago Jesuit Academy, shared valuable insights into careers in social work.

McAuley presented its spring play, I Never Saw Another Butterfly, on April 3 and 4, 2025. The cast and crew brought the story of survival, courage and hope to life through their strong acting, musical talents, and detailed set. 

Our Future Macs Preview Night was a great opportunity for junior high girls to learn more about Mother McAuley. With our supportive and dedicated faculty and staff on hand to welcome families and showcase our rigorous, college-prep curriculum; our more than 50+ clubs and organizations on display; our spring play hosting their opening night in the Auditorium; and so much more, the event was truly a MIGHTY showing of the McAuley educational experience.

Thank you to the International Coalition of Girls' Schools (ICGS) and our fellow Chicagoland girls' schools for partnering with us throughout Women's History Month to highlight The Girls' School Advantage!

On Thursday, March 27, members of the Mother McAuley community gathered to celebrate what it truly means to be a Mighty Mac at Celebration 2025. Hosted at the University Club, just steps from where the Sisters of Mercy began their incredible work in Chicago nearly 180 years ago, the event highlighted the resilience, ambition and unwavering strength that define our students, alumnae, and the entire McAuley community. We stand on the enduring values of the Sisters of Mercy, and together, we embody their legacy.

Continuing our celebration of Women's History Month, we've partnered with the International Coalition of Girls' Schools (ICGS) and fellow Chicagoland girls' schools to highlight the benefits of an all-girls education. Research shows that girls' school graduates, compared to coeducated peers, are more likely to exhibit stronger community involvement, greater cultural competency, and increased political engagement.

On March 18, we hosted a ceremony and breakfast for students and their families to celebrate this semester's Macs with Merit! Macs with Merit is an award given to a student by a teacher or staff member on behalf of their honorable character, diligent work ethic, and notable contributions to the McAuley community.

As part of our spring Spirit Week, students participated in our annual talent show, Macs Got Talent. The week ended with our Spring Formal.

We kicked off St. Patrick’s Day weekend celebrating with WGN Morning News at the St. Patrick’s Day Extravaganza! You may have spotted performances from our Mac Melody, A Cappella Choir, and BRMM Band!

Mother McAuley students participated in Advocate Christ Medical Center's annual art contest to expand its permanent art collection. Students from Mother McAuley received various awards, and some of their artwork was even chosen for the hospital's permanent collection. Congratulations to our talented student artists!

Each month, students involved in our clubs or organizations gather with the residents at Mercy Circle and to complete an activity. This month, students in the Catherine McAuley Honors Scholars and Culinary Club worked with the Sisters of Mercy to decorate flower pots in preparation for spring!

This International Women's Day, Mother McAuley continues our mission of empowering courageous women to change the world. Our McAuley students are standing on the shoulders of the Sisters of Mercy and the 29,000+ alumnae who came before them. We are proud to celebrate the phenomenal women, past and present, who walk the halls of 99th Street.

It's Women's History Month! There's no better time to champion the benefits of an all-girls education. We've partnered with the International Coalition of Girls' Schools (ICGS) and fellow Chicagoland girls' schools to highlight The Girls' School Advantage by the numbers.

Students, faculty and staff gathered together for our winter pep rally! With games and activities, a performance by the Mighty Mac cheerleaders, and more, it was a MIGHTY fun day!

Our entire school community gathered together to begin our Lenten journey with an Ash Wednesday Mass on March 5, led by Rev. Ritchie Ortiz, associate pastor from Queen of Martyrs Church.

Congratulations to Mother McAuley Alumna, Grace McKee '16, on being named the 2025 South Side Irish Parade Queen!

Members of our Macs LEAD (Leadership, Education, and Awareness of Disabilities) club led the charge in organizing McAuley's participation in the Chicago Polar Plunge. They joined forces with Brother Rice as the Best of Both Worlds Team to raise over $15,000 for Special Olympics Chicago! Among the 23 the school teams that participated, Best of Both Worlds, came in second for fundraising.

Maggie Zuber '25 put a bow on her outstanding career with a 2nd place finish in the 140lb weight class at the IHSA Girls Wrestling Championships. Maggie defeated opponents from SJ Ogden, Fremd and New Trier before falling to a formidable opponent from Collinsville High School. Congratulations Maggie! 

Mother McAuley's Show Choir, Mac Melody, is having a MIGHTY great competition season!
Earlier this month, Mac Melody won Grand Champions in their division at their competition in Chesterton, Indiana, and their band won Best Band! Last weekend, they won 3rd Runner Up and Best Crew at their competition in El Paso/Gridley.

For over 10 years, Mother McAuley Art Students have participated in the Memory Project, which invites high school students to create heartfelt portraits of children living in orphanages around the world.  AP Art & Design and Studio Honors students created this year's portraits that were recently delivered to children in India.

In honor of Black History Month, our Black Student Union and Alumnae Office have partnered to spotlight distinguished Black alumnae. Our fourth spotlight is Yolanda Petty '83.

We welcomed five alumnae back to Mother McAuley last week to speak on a panel about their specialized career in the field of education. Students heard from a Case Manager at Barbara Vick Early Childhood & Family Center, Principal at Blair Early Childhood Center, Second Grade Teacher at St. Barnabas, Manager of Child & Family Learning at Lincoln Park Zoo, and Manager of Education at Daniel Murphy Scholars Foundation. 

Mother McAuley welcomed back our Black Alumnae on February 25 for an inspiring breakfast hosted by our Black Student Union. Thank you to all of our alumnae who joined us for a meaningful morning of keynote speakers, student reflections, roundtable discussions, and more. Special thanks to Michaela Foreman '16 and Ronia Linton '25 their impactful reflections!

We are MIGHTY proud to congratulate 11 of our talented young artists who were recently named 2025 Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Award recipients! These Mighty Macs were recognized by Columbia College for their Original Works.

The senior theater workshop students hosted their One Act Festival on February 19 in the auditorium! The cast, crew, and directors were thrilled to share their hard work. 

We had a great day welcoming 6th and 7th grade Future Macs to McAuley for a special shadow day on February 17. They had the chance to experience a day in the life of a Mighty Mac, visit a Club Fair, play games and activities, and so much more!

Our entire school community gathered together for our Black History Month Prayer Service on February 13. Thank you to our Black Student Union for hosting the beautiful service filled with community, prayer, reflection, music and stories of history makers!

On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, our Environmental Science classes were excited to welcome the Senior Lab Manager & Quality Assurance Officer for the Culligan Analytical Laboratory to learn more about the process of filtering and testing water. Special thanks to Maria Mozdzen, Liz Filmer, and Eileen Earley Ziesemer '01 for collaborating with us!

The Class of 2028 enjoyed their first Father/Daughter Dance on February 7! It was a fun night for our students and their special guests!

Saint Xavier University, Brother Rice High School, and Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School are proud to announce a joint initiative to enhance academic and experiential opportunities for students. Reinforcing the shared values and mission of Catholic education, leadership from the three schools are partnering to formalize cutting-edge plans designed to benefit students’ personal and professional development.

After just three years as a program, we are MIGHTY proud to congratulate the Mother McAuley Cheerleading Team on qualifying for the IHSA State Finals in the Large Team Division!

Mother McAuley has earned the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) for the fifth year in a row. Schools honored with an AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded access to AP computer science courses for female students in their communities. 

We kicked off the new year with a retreat for our freshman students. This day-long event allows students to engage with their fellow classmates, dive deeper into their faith and Mercy values, and build on the sense of community that began during the three-day Empower: First Year Experience orientation in August.

Winter Athletics are beginning to wind down, however, the Macs have experienced many successes and look to continue the momentum into the state playoffs. 

Our very own Bridget Stroner '23 is a current student at Saint Mary's College and performed with the Notre Dame Marching Band during the championship game. 

Congratulations to our very own, Emily Guzman '25, who was selected to participate as a crew member in the Illinois All-State production of The Prom!

Katie Schumacher-Cawley ‘97 led Penn State Women’s Volleyball to an NCAA National Championship victory! Katie is the FIRST female head coach to win the title. She is a true inspiration to the Mighty Macs!

Mother McAuley's String Ensemble performed a selection of Christmas classics for the patients at Little Company of Mary Hospital the week before Christmas.

We were honored to have our A Cappella and Mac Melody Choirs spread holiday cheer at the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago's Christmas Luncheon on December 6 at the Grand Ballroom Hilton Chicago. They've also performed at the ILMEA District 1 Festival, to the Chriskindlmarket downtown, to Misericordia, Smith Village, and more!

As part of our Mental Health Matters week, students had the opportunity to visit with therapy dogs during their lunch periods on December 6.

Mother McAuley High School is excited to announce that the school’s volleyball program has been recognized as #1 in the state in celebration of the 50th edition of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Volleyball State Series. Selected by a prestigious committee of current and former volleyball coaches, administrators, and media members, this announcement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of McAuley’s athletes, coaches and supporters over the years.

Mother McAuley High School is thrilled to announce the hiring of Beth Meyers Shibata (pictured right) as the school’s new Vice President of Administration and Chief Financial Officer, and Meredith Obiala Simpson (pictured left) as the new Director of Marketing and Communications. Both members of the Mother McAuley Class of 2003, they bring their strong Mercy values and passion for the school’s mission to their new roles, along with robust experience.

Last week, Mother McAuley alumnae in the legal profession gathered together for an afternoon of networking at Nixon Peabody LLP. The caliber of professionals in attendance made this event more than just a networking opportunity — it was a powerful showcase of McAuley women who are driving change and shaping the legal and business landscape in Chicago.

On November 11, Mother McAuley and Brother Rice hosted a special Veterans Day celebration and prayer service to honor our nation's veterans' bravery, dedication, and service.

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission presents this important recognition of academic achievement to exceptional Illinois high school students annually.

On November 1, our school community gathered together for All Saints Day Mass, where we remembered the lives of our loved ones who have passed on.

We are MIGHTY proud to share that Mother McAuley has been named to the Advanced Placement® Program School Honor Roll, earning Gold distinction. McAuley is also honored with the 2024 AP Access Award for ensuring AP coursework is equally available to students no matter their backgrounds.

We had a blast at our annual Girls Night Out for 7th and 8th grade girls on October 30!

This week, students from our National Art Honors Society hosted their annual pumpkin auction. Faculty, staff and students were able to bid on their favorite pumpkins, and the proceeds benefit The Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.

We had a ghostly good time at the annual Not-So-Haunted House hosted by students in our clubs and organizations on October 22! More than 400 kids and their families joined us for this well-loved event.

Congratulations to the Mighty Mac Tennis Team on their 2nd place finish at Sectionals! We are MIGHTY proud of our FIVE State Qualifiers.

Last week, Peer Ministry students prayed, mourned, and paid their respects to 101 indigent, unknown people buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Our students were present to walk with these souls to their final resting place. This was an educational opportunity for the students, and it was also an opportunity to carry out our mercy mission, as burying the dead is a corporal work of mercy.

On October 17, we inducted six mighty women into the McAuley Hall of Honor. These women are shining examples of how to live a life of Mercy. Learn more about our inductees, and make a gift in their honor.

Our Drivers Education Class welcomed Hon. Pam Ingersol Saindon ‘80 back to Mother McAuley on October 17 to discuss the importance safe driving for teens.

We had a MAC-TASTIC time welcoming over 275 girls to shadow at Mother McAuley for our special shadow day on October 14!
