The Fathers' & Mothers' Clubs give of their time and talents to enthusiastically support the mission of Catherine McAuley. Membership is open to all parents and guardians of Mother McAuley students and provides wonderful opportunities to make new friends and build lasting memories of your daughter’s time at McAuley. Both clubs plan and execute projects and events which benefit the school, students and families, as well as the surrounding community. Each year, the clubs underwrite the cost of the bus transportation to safely transport our seniors and their dates to the Senior Prom!
Both clubs meet on the following days for the 2023-2024 school year: September 14, October 12, November 9, December 8, January 14, February 8, March 14, and April 11.

Mother McAuley High School is proud to announce the hiring of Laura Gill, as the school's new athletic director beginning her tenure on July 1, 2024. As a result of an extensive search and multiple rounds of interviews with key stakeholders, Gill's practical experience, leadership, commitment to Catholic education, and passion for women's sports made her the natural choice to assume this leadership position.

Our entire school community gathered together to close out the school year with our Time & Eternity Mass.Following the Mass, the Class of 2024 took an oath to join our community of 29,000 Mother McAuley Alumnae!
Our Performing Arts Department concluded the year by hosting their annual Spring Chorus, Strings, and Band Concerts!
We had a great morning celebrating College Decision Day for the Class of 2024 on Wednesday, May 1st!
It was another MIGHTY great afternoon on 99th Street! On April 30th, we unveiled the brand new scoreboard and lights on our turf field, thanks to the generous support of the Tom Hopkins Foundation and Marquette Bank.
Mother McAuley is proud to be the first all-girls school in Chicago with a state-of-the-art turf field. We celebrated this investment we are making towards equity in women’s sports with our Mighty Mac Community today.

We recognized a truly unique and exceptional accomplishment at our Honors Assembly this morning. Lieutenant Colonel Tim Grebs, Admissions Liaison Officer to the United States Air Force Academy, officially appointed our very own Sophia Rowan ‘24.
Sophia is the second student in Mother McAuley’s history to be appointed to the Air Force Academy, and she is one of approximately 25 students in Illinois to be appointed this year.

Our school gathered for an Honors Assembly to recognize our students' academic achievements and celebrate the essence of Mother McAuley – a community dedicated to excellence, mercy, faith, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Our Visual Arts Department held their induction ceremony for the National Art Honor Society! Congratulations to the newly inducted members of NAHS!
We are MIGHTY proud to share that our very own, Ellie White '24, was named Honorary Coach for the 2024 Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies!
The 56th Annual Opening Ceremonies were held this past weekend at Soldier Field. Each year, an Honorary Coach is selected to kick off the games in celebration of Special Olympic athletes! Ellie joins a list of Chicago sports legends that have preceded her in being named the Honorary Coach.

Our very own Mother McAuley Mariachi Club opened for the Grammy Award-Winning Rock Band, Los Lobos, at the St. Germaine Cinco De Mayo Celebration!
The Mariachi Club is one of Mother McAuley's newest student clubs, and we are MIGHTY proud of their latest accomplishment sharing a stage with Los Lobos!
Our Daniel P. Haerther Scholars enjoyed their final program event hosted by the generous Haerther Trustees. The Senior Send Off luncheon took place downtown and included all seven catholic high school presidents, mentors and scholars. Congratulations and best of luck to these four amazing seniors, Makilah Cooley '24, Giselle Godinez '24, Martha Rios '24 and Ava Grace Sales '24. We will miss you!
On Thursday, May 2nd, we held our Thespian Induction and Theatre Awards Ceremony! Congratulations to all of the new inductees and award winners!

Please join us in congratulating Eliza Sweeney '25 on being named the Grand Prize Winner of Chicago Public Library’s "Young Artist Award" as part of the Teen Winter Challenge!
Eliza's portfolio was selected from among 200 submissions, and it stood out for her exceptional skill in depicting realism. Eliza's artwork will be featured prominently at a downtown exhibit in the Harold Washington Library Center. The winning piece will also be included in the annual Teen Winter Challenge catalog, which will be added to the Chicago Public Library’s permanent collection - ensuring it remains accessible to the public for years to come!

Our entire junior class spent the morning volunteering at Feed My Starving Children as part of their Junior Retreat. Students packed hundreds of nutritious meals for people in need all around the world!

Mother McAuley & Brother Rice Band and Orchestra students traveled to Nashville over Spring Break for an incredible trip full of music.
Our Mighty Macs visited the Grand Ole Opry, recorded at RCA Studio B (the same studio used by Elvis, Dolly Parton, Chet Atkins, and so much more), performed at the National Museum of African American Music, saw Elvis Presley's Piano, and even spotted a celebrity along the way!
Our Daniel P. Haerther Scholars went on a field trip to the Morton Arboretum! While there, students went on a scavenger hunt to explore and learn about its tree-filled landscape. They also met with employees from Morton to learn about career and internship opportunities! Thank you to our generous Haerther Trustees for hosting this great event - we are blessed!
Book Club took a field trip to CFS Coffee Shop and Barnes & Noble in Oak Brook!
Book Club is just one of the 40+ student clubs and organizations that we are proud to offer at Mother McAuley. Mighty Macs get involved and stay involved with over 94% of students participating in one or more clubs/organizations!
Journalism students attended the Scholastic Press Association of Chicago Conference held at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism in Chicago this week. The students participated in panels and received awards for their work on our student run news magazine, Inscape!
Maya Krueger '20 recently held a one woman exhibition of her artwork at the home of Kwang-Wu Kim, the President of Columbia College Chicago.
Congratulations to Maggie Hughes '24 on being named the 2024 Erica Heilmann Scholarship Award Winner!
The award is presented annually by the Heilmann family in honor of Erica Heilmann, who was recognized by the Tony Awards for Excellence in Theatre Education and who passed away in 2018. It is presented to the individual who demonstrates, through the arts, character with compassion, leadership with understanding, selflessness with strength, and always a welcoming heart.
Macs with Merit is an award given to a student by a teacher or staff member on behalf of their honorable character, diligent work ethic, and notable contributions to the McAuley community.
Macs Got Talent 2024
Our Mighty Macs marched in both the Southside Irish Parade and the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade during St. Patrick's Day Weekend! The parades made us proud to celebrate McAuley's Irish Heritage and the Chicago community that we've been a part of for more than 175 years. Special thanks to the BRMM Band and all of our alumnae who joined us!
We are MIGHTY proud of our eight senior students who were awarded the A. Franklin Pilchard Foundation Scholarship this year! This is an $8,000 renewable scholarship awarded to students attending an Illinois college/university. Congratulations, Macs!
Congratulations to Kathleen Sullivan '16 who was selected to serve on the Queen's Court for the 2024 St. Patrick's Day Parade! Kathleen marched in the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 16th!
Mother McAuley students participated in Advocate Christ Medical Center's annual art contest to expand its permanent art collection. This competition was open to students from schools involved in the "Live from the Heart" Program, and the submissions were judged by faculty from Saint Xavier University and experts from Acorns to Oaks Studio. Students from Mother McAuley stood out by having their artwork displayed, some chosen for the hospital’s permanent collection, and others received various awards.
Mother McAuley's first ever Scholastic Bowl team competed in the IHSA regionals on Monday, March 4!
The team won their opening round in order to make it to the regional semifinals where their season ended. We are MIGHTY proud of their impressive first season!
Congratulations to Mr. Josh Meyer who was named the Educator of the Year at the Best of Blue Island Awards this past weekend! He received more votes than any other category in the awards. What a testament to the impact he has made on the Mother McAuley community!
Members of our Macs LEAD club once again led the charge in organizing McAuley's participation in the Chicago Polar Plunge. We joined forces with Brother Rice, and our Best of Both Worlds team was the most successful it has ever been with more than 70 students participating and over $17,000 raised this year! We also placed 3rd in the school team challenge.
The Math Macs are going to STATE! We are MIGHTY proud to share that the team won 1st place at the Regional Math Competition last weekend, and they will be competing at the State Competition on April 6th.
